What settings are you guys running this game at? I have the resolution set to 1280x800 with everything on high, no AA/AS, and no dx10 effects. So far those are the only settings I can keep without the framerate dipping below 30. I'm also using 163.69 drivers.

Sorry no I havn't. If there's a demo of it on steam I could download it and try it but it'll be Wednesday before I could do it. I'm saving my money for HL2:OB and Hellgate: London lol.

    Maxxed out, 1280x800.

Frame rates in the 30-50 range generally, dips to 20 occasionally but nothing serious.

    Core 2 Duo T7100, 2 GB RAM, 8600M GT GDDR2, 163.69 Beta Drivers and Vista x64.

The FPS is basically locked at 30 unless you manually unlock through the console. Check the Enemy Territory: Quake Wars thread in this forum for details.

Also, ET:QW runs on the D3 engine. That means OGL 2.0, which in turn means no DX10 effects anyway.

everything maxed out? same card with a slightly better processor and my framerate drops to sub 20s with everything set to the highest quality. Do you have AA or AS on?

I'm downloading the demo it may take me a while because I'm on satellite internet. (I have a limit of what I can download 175MB every 8 hours.)

All settings max, no AA or AF (maybe 2x AF, I'll check)

    A few things to check:

Make sure you have the FPS tweaks enabled in the console. There are 3 main tweaks; one that uncaps your FPS, one that changes the way the game is rendered, and one that locks your FPS at whatever value you select. All three are necessary.

I drop to 20's in some cases, such as (for some reason) always inside the building to the left of the exit of the tunnel. No matter what, that building tanks my fps. In any other instance, the game is exceptionally smooth.

I haven't really tweaked anything else. Make sure you have display settings in Nvidia Control Panel set to Single Display performance mode, which is known to fix some issues in this game. Also, larger servers will cause huge lag no matter what. I usually play on servers at 20-25/32 slots filled. A full game will tank fps due to heavy physics and other types of rendering.

Also, if you are playing locally against bots your FPS will be slightly lower due to the CPU time needed to control the bot AI.

Hop on over to the Enemy Territory Official Community forum, they are much more knowledgeable and should be able to help you out.

    Best of luck!

As a side note, XP or Vista? x64 or 32-bit? 2GB RAM?

Ok I've been downloading the demo on Steam right now I'm at 87%... been downloading constantly since 10%. IF it finishes I'll test it. IF I don't get FAPed before it finishes. I'm going to get FAPed to hell after this lol. I'm only suppose to download 175 MB every 8 hrs and right now I've downloaded over 600MB.

    Uhoh Watch a double post.

I finished downloading it off Steam. Turns out that was a big mistake. I keep getting game currently unavaliable. Seems like this is a steam issue. Considering by 7am today I will be super FAPed and on HughesNet's most wanted list I won't be able to try again until Thursday. Sorry.

EDIT: Mxxl I was reading on the ET:QW forum. Try this go to your Nvidia control panel, Manage 3d Settings, Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration and set it to Single display performance mode. See if that helps.

EDIT: Ok I got ET working. I have experienced no frame drops. I have a min of 29, average of 30 and max of 31 it never escapes those ranges. I do have a little bit of a frame skipping issue and image tearing but I think that could be fixed if I could change the game settings. Either the demo doesn't allow it, steam won't allow it or I'm just too ignorant to figure it out. Mxxl are you playing a demo?

Wow a triple post, world record lol.

I told you I'd get the numbers. Took me a little longer than I had anticipated but I had problems playing the demo after I installed it apparently there's a problem with steam and the demo but if you install something from microsoft it fixes the problem.

ANYWAYS! I don't remember how long I played but I used FRAPS to count my FPS, so here I have the min/max/average listed. I was playing the game at 1280x800 res, all high settings, turn smooth particles off and no AA. Game looks great I noticed a very few slowdowns. The FPS dropped down to 0 but honestly I never knew it. There's just SO much crap going on it's hard to notice.

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
    139452, 5317813, 0, 32, 26.224

Btw: Does this game have a singleplayer campaign? I can't play games online due to my internet but if this has a campaign with an actual story I will probably buy it!

It does have some sort of single player campaign I do believe. Story based missions and all that.

I don't like the game, but I was bored at work. Using the three FPS tweaks, 1280x800 max all high, no AA/AF. FRAPs said min 0 max 34 avg 31

Not sure when it dropped to zero, im going to guess it was in that building, or from dropping in. Either way everything seemed smooth and on target.

Oh, Vista 32 T7300, 3GB ram, 8600mGT 512mb. Seems to be on par with everyones elses settings and such, so probably the best you can get in this range. It's also what I would have said before actually trying it.

I guess we're in the same boat with the 0. I'm going to try and figure out when it's dropping and let everyone know. It may not be today though.

I'm thinking it happens right after it loads the game, or when you first spawn as a GDF soldier. I don't really have the time at work to mess around like that to figure it out though.

It might also happen at some point during death, I don't know. Where ever it happens, I don't notice it during the play through.

Eh the more I think about it I don't think I'm going to try and figure it out. I know when I do I'll notice it everytime and then I won't be able to enjoy the game because I'll become focused on it. It's like when you discover a dead pixle. It never bothers you until you notice it and then you become obsessed with it... and you give it a name and a southern accent. You claim it's a member of an evil organization and it's sole purpose in life is to kill you!

i have all the texture quality options set to medium, everything else set high, 2xAF, no AA, and all the misc stuff turned off.

here is my fps count with a server at full load 32/32

    Frames: 1878 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 31.300 - Min: 5 - Max: 50

i'm guessing that i'm getting 5 fps minimum because the framerate drops when you first spawn in a server.

That's what I was guessing with the 0 Odin and I were getting. I wonder if the texture quality is making such a difference that your max FPS goes higher than mine, I'll have to try that out maybe...
