Is looks like PC Microworks just released a new Notebook, and its a Possible m15x Killer.
Currently (after 500$ Instant Rebate(Memorial Day)) you get for 1899$

    Intel® Core™2 Duo P9500 (2.6Ghz/45nm/1066Mhz/6MB)
    2 Gigs of Ram
    160GB Hard drive at 7200RPM
    Standard 8X Speed DVD-RW / CD-RW DL Burner
    nVidia 8800M GTX
    WSXGA+ 1680x1050 GlassVision X-treme Bright LCD
8 Channel Advanced SRS WOW Surround Sound System
    10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Networking Adapter
    Internel Modem
Build in ABG Wireless Adapter (You can get the AGN for free at the moment!)
    1 Year Warranty

    -[Winbdows Vista Home Premium: +110$]

    More to it http://www.pcmicroworks.com/edge.htm

What do you guys think, is it gonna kill the m15x and more, is the Company Reliable?
Seems to be too good to be true...
It seems to be much more affordable than the Alienware, extremly nice looking and so on, but its new and what about overheating and other issues the Alienware had?
Without the Rebate, similar Specced m15x and Edge seem to come out at about the same price(including OS on Edge), but the Edge has the new Montevina and possibly less Heating issues.

Thats the new sager/clevo m860tu. Its pretty badass and I would definitely choose that over the m15x. I think its coming out next month or early july.

Wow I just realized with the 9800mgtx and their 500 memorial day sale it still under 2250 with home premium and the wuxga screen.

gives us a date on the high end 9 series. 9800m gtx set for 7/31/08 and the 9800m gts set for 6/31/08. that probably means we will start to see the 9600m gt and 9700m gt in laptops about late june early july

Clevo used to be the supplier of Alienware, and PCMW offer top notch customer service.
the new motherboard is also 40% smaller, which means more room for cooling system.

This is not a possible, it`s a DEFINITE. The specs of the M860Tu(Edge) will totally burry the m15x, in both price and performance.
    But not looks :p

Well, with the Company i didnt mean Clevo, but PC Microworks, i guess (or hope) that they must be reliable if they work with Clevo, but there is still that lil doubt in my mind, i was aiming at a 17" notebook, but I might go this way and get that one...

And did you guys see the Max Possible Ram? 8gb :D "only" 1300$

They don't work with Clevo, they resell Clevo, they basically just but their brand on the laptop and that's it.

This laptop looks extremely interesting but I don't think it's an m15x killer. There were always equivalent laptops to what Alienware had and Alienware is still kicking.

If this was available half a year earlier, I would have been tempted beyond all reason. It is superior to every 15.4" notebook on the market (not counting the other M860TUs) in nearly every way and doesn't even cost all that much. Oh well -- I take solace in the fact that by the time I need a new machine, there will almost certainly be something even better and cheaper around.

I'd rather have a AW m15x, doesn't look as pretty nor is it sold in the UK

Actually it will be sold in UK.

There are many Clevo vendors that will carry that model when its available next month.

Since this model is not exclusive to just one vendor, the prices will be much more appealing... not to mention the performance/price ratio (that the M15x cannot really match).

here is a small list of Europe Clevo sellers:

bad a$$ laptop though, i seriously would have considered that a few months ago, but I like my gateway and I think I still get a better price/performance ratio

I'm waiting for Sager to release their version. PCMW is jumping the gun with this, just like Eurocom.

The M860TU probably won't ship until the end of June/early July.

I agree though, this looks like a great machine. It's the first 15.4" gaming notebook Clevo has made since the M560A, which is what I use. In the over two and a half years I've owned my Clevo (Sager NP5320), I haven't found a machine 'worthy' enough to be a proper replacement. I may be looking to replace it with an M860TU, we'll see.

They are not the best made, thoughbook is. However they have one of the best customer support, comparing to IBM and apple.

Clevo sells the notebook shells to vendors in North America and other places in the world, where they are then branded and sold (note: not re-branded). It's important to note that Clevo itself does not provide any support, that is all done through the place where you bought it. Sager resellers, PCMW - they have excellent customer support. I encourage you to check out the Clevo Guide Gophn wrote.

The shipping dates are more for the vendors/resellers to get their barebones.... not really reflecting the true date of fully-configured systems going to customers.

So Chaz is pretty accurate. Real units will probably not ship to customers until the end of June at the earliest.

It says 9800m GTS $150 less than 8800m GTX? So is the 8800m GTX that much more powerful than the 9800m GTS?

And why is 1680x1050 only glossy and 1920x1200 only matte? I prefer matte and want 1680x1050. I hate crap like this.

Hopefully the prices will drop by October since that's when I plan on trading in my Vostro 1500 for a new laptop.

Wow thanks for the link. I'm on the market for a gaming 15.4 inch, looks like I may go with that clevo (I don't care who's selling it, as long as it's not Alienware) instead of the XPS 1530, if, the pricing is reasonable.

And yes, for smart people, I believe it is a possible m15x killer. I have no idea why some people put up with Alienware's ridiculous unjustified pricing.

    - *"1 extra gigabyte of 677mhz ram on a system only configured with 1gb"* - Only $150.00+!.

    * I shut down my PC after reading that* Haven't been to Alienware's site since :)

The 3870x2 should be nice, although the desktop 3870x2 is pretty terrible , no match for the 9800 GX2 or 9800 GTX SLI...
    Granted,it costs much less...

If you order smartly, its not so expensive. I got my m15x w/ 8800 gtx for $2200... saved by getting only 1 gig ram and installing it myself, and going with Visa's exteneded warranty (totalling 2 years, vs paying 300 for AW's 3 year) to save myself some dough.

OBVIOUSLY the clevo and any montevina platform lappy is the better choice right now... technology moves on. But, I've been happily gaming since January. And with the 8800 and smartbay battery life, I have all the gfx juice and battery power I'll need for the next few years.

i was just checking this out and damn, it under 3kg and 1.2 inches thick, that thickness seems like it has to be wrong, although it was ~1.2 inches.
