Finally got started with Empire Total War.
Started the "Road to Independence" mini campaign. My audio seems to keep going in and out. The music will be running, then it'll stop, I'll hear a voice say something, then go back to music.
Anyone else have this problem?

Which notebook is this on?
Could it be your audio drivers? -
Oh, sorry, desktop actually, X-Fi Xtreme Gamer. Haven't run on notebook yet, but plan on it. Wanted to get it on the big 24" screen before I move it on my portable!

my guess is its a game bug, i've had this with other games

Did you fix this yet?

what did he get banned for?
anyway, this is a game bug it was present in all initial releases, and it sucks
there is no drumming, no shouting of orders, etc even though i can see the drummer walking around pounding his drums all i hear is silence
as of today it's still not fixed for me; a few might not catch on with the music on thats why i always have it off it becomes very obvious that sounds are missing/not working -
That audio just throws me off. It's like a bad dub over a swear word in an edited for television movie.
Plus I get unit groups that just stutter and jump as they're moving, and animations are almost at a standstill or like stop motion video.
These two issues are almost so annoying that I am having a hard time playing it. I don't know how this game got such great reviews. I agree that maybe inside the game mechanics are awesome, but how can you overlook such blatant issues. I've tried this with two different drivers on two different machines with same result varying in severity. I read nothing of this in any of the reviews that praised this game.
It's kind of like someone reviewing a car and stating it is very comfortable and has good performance, but fail to mention that the engine knocks and stutters on occasion. -
Look on the ETW forums, at this topic. It details how to fix your problem.

Thanks, will give it a shot. I don't have any issues with the videos, only in-game. Isn't bink only for videos and not for in-game sound?

Does this game have serious problems guys? Reviews are good but the amazon/best buy/other user reviews seem to shine some light on issues.

Yeah, people are screaming about the lack of refinement in the code. Most say it runs worse than Medieval II. I would hope a quick patch will help with some of the issues. A few people also mentioned that the grand campaign was unplayable as it always crashed a few hours in?

Thank you sir. It's very tempting with Best Buy hanging it out there for $39.95.

200% better? have you played both games? to me they look almost identical -
