Is the ETW Special Forces Edition worth the extra $20 for the units and what you get?

Also, what kind of stuff comes in the boxed version, and is it worth it over the Steam version? I like Steam so I can install and play wherever, whenever I want. But if the boxed version comes with some good stuff, I'd rather buy that at the same price as Steam version.

I don't really think its worth it. You would be better off taking the $20 or whatever it is and buying one of the old Total War games, assuming you do not have them already. Special units are nice but I don't see them as being anymore than a gimmick.

I bet those special forces units will be a free download soon enough.

Some people around are saying that the special units are already coded into the game. If you wait, there's probably a good chance that a 'fix' will be created that opens access to them. Also, there's 3 other special units besides the 6 that come in this package. And I was looking at it before, and I think it requires Steam to activate (for anyone who cares about that).

    Thanks, except for ARom :(

So what about any good manuals or other stuff in the boxed version? The Special Forces box seems rather heavy, but it could be a bunch of fluff stuff I don't care about.

First of all: sorry for not posting earlier. And if haven't already bought the game, don't get the "Special Forces" edition. It is probably the biggest rip off that I have been involved in this year...which is a good thing :p. The only "extra" things you get is a map, but it's not as good as the map in Rome: Total War, a small art book, which is by far the biggest rip off of all because it is basically the preview shots that were released on their website, and the 6 special forces, which are really not THAT great (though I do have a certain affinity for the HMS Victory :) ). So your really not better off getting the game except for "show"/"brag" purposes. PM if you want to play a real master of the game .

It may not be worth it to get ETW at all. Check out the forums first. Everyone and their dog is bashing the game mostly due to the apparently unfinished AI.

I have the simple version of ETW and I believe is absolutely worth.
Donnow about the special edition though.
The AI has been fixed at twcenter thanks to numerous modders.
    GOD SAVE THE MODDERS!!!!-)
