Yes it looks plain awesome. You just have to see that ocean and ships in action, probably the most realistic water I have seen so far in motion.

having trouble running it. anyone know what settings i should be running at to get a stable 25-30 fps? Once i have a lot of units on screen at once it goes down to like 10 which is brutal. running most settings on low already.

I only did the tutorials and the beginning of the revolutionary war mission, but it was running smoothly at 27-47 fps at 1440x900. The game looks pretty abyssmal and depressing though on such low settings. All the units slide across the map and I can barely tell what they're doing. Gonna give it another try later to fiddle with the settings to get something decent.

Btw, I don't know if it's just me, but does anyone feel like the game takes a really long time to load or even just to apply settings changes? One time I thought the game froze when I was staring at the first intro screen for 2 minutes.

is there any slowdown caused by your processor? Can it fluidly handle this game?

These days the RTS are SUPER dependent on the CPU and this looks amazing so i was wondering.

wow, I just played through both of the battles. That is some good stuff right there. However, I feel like the land battles are now super long compared to the old Total War series ones. And, I felt like the sea battle was much more dynamic and fun than the land one, what do you all think?

My CPU is definitely bottlenecking me. Though the game runs at 30+ fps all the way up to 50 in some occasions.

I'm running between 40 and 90, all maxed (AA & AF too), and our GPUs are pretty close, so I'm going to go with CPU limited big time especially the guy with a T7500. My 1680x1050 is lowe but with the AA/AF it evens out.

RTS games are usually bottlenecked by the CPU due to the large number of things rendered on the screen at one time.

EDIT: And I'm sure the water doesn't help either.

Ok...i played it and i gotta say this....in an odd way its pretty awesome! At first i was like BORING, then when i played it i realized its fun once you know every soldiers abilities :D

The Ocean battles are amazing i think its too slow though. I was circling the enemy boat like 20 times not knowing how to destroy it :D IT was interesting and the water effects were shockingly nice :)

I loved the land battles though i did the 1 vs 1 mode i got owned the first time the second time i didnt it more strategically and BARELY lost the AI had like 20 troops left and my generals were my last people left this game also takes FOREVER to load man oh man. I hate to see whats gonna happen to some with a lower end core 2 i ran it full on ultra and every detail was nice ESPECIALLY the grass. That was one of the best done parts. Overall i recommend this demo to anyone

Have some with grape shot and some with chain shot, then board the ships, if you feel like it. Otherwise, they'll just surrender.

the water battles are actually way better for me. 30-60 fps unless i zoom in it goes to like 25. How many extra fps do u think an overclock to 2.4 ghz would give me?

My HD2600 GDDR3 struggles abit at WUXGA...lol Gona try it on WSXGA+ tomorrow. Having been a long time payer of the total war series (since shogun), I think the naval battles are really well done. Though I sill prefer lots of people running at each other like in Rome and Medieval...

Update, its runs at 800by 600 with medium settings no aa. About 20-30 fps. This is on my mobilty radeon hd 3450.

Really don't like the game that much. Also how would you tell if your gpu is bottlenecking.

you'll know because you will get a lot of lagging/low frames per second(FPS) It could also be your CPU because games like this use alot from you CPU.

I'd say that in your case it's more than definitely your CPU bottlenecking your performance.

Hmmm tried the demo yesterday, the water is definitely very pretty. The performance was quite good too considering the fact that I was playing at my default resolution of 1680x1050 and the game would freeze every time I tried to change that to something more reasonable  , but still the fps was around 20-30. Can't wait for the full version. ;)

Anyone got any thoughts as to how this would run on a new Macbook Pro under Boot Camp running XP? I have the 2.53GHz version with 9600M GT 512Mb DDR3.

I don't play many games, but the Total War series are en exception to the rule!

Any details would be GREATLY appreciated...thanks!

Thanks for the response Future - question though, the p7805's display only goes to 1440 x 900...are you saying that on your p7805 you can run full res (1440) on max settings?

Or are you saying that you know that the 7811 can run max settings on 1920?

    Thanks again!!!

Some of the 7805s have WUXGA, it would appear that his does, and that it ran fine at WUXGA.
