Some of you might already know that for some reason I couldnt use any driver for my vostros 8600 gt unless it was one from dells homepage.

    Anyway I get around 3558 on 3D mark 06 at 1280 x 800 using windows xp and a core 2 duo t7250 , 2 gb ram.

I can play call of duty 4 pretty well , unless some levels where you can see a lot of grass.
Do you think I should keep trying to update to 169.04 even though after I did the last time I had just

Or should I keep the driver I have now ? , but its unfortunately I cant overclock this one :/

so any suggestions ? or do you think that the 8600 m gt cant do more anyway? , And If the 169.04 driver would actually work how many fps would I get more on CoD4 ?

thanks , and sorry for any mistakes.

I dont see any reason why it wouldnt work either besides the reason that I get obviously less performance! :(

I deinstalled the hardware in the hardware manager , i used driver cleaner and unrared 169.04 , replaced its inf file and then I used the disk method >_<

Is this normal for the omega driver ??

    1. my video card is called this now ( in the hardware manager) : %NVIDIA_G84.DEV_0407.1%

    2. I can choose a incredible high resulotion even though i have just a 1280x800 monitor.

So , is it actually worth it to try the gaming performance or is it already obvious that something went wrong?

    thanks a lot.

1)i have the same thing(also shows my card as %NVIDIA_G84.DEV_0407.1%). i messed something up while copying/pasting stuff lol
    2) that's not a problem. i used to have the same thing before, but not anymore(locked at 1280x800)
try the gaming part, of course!

    I tried Aqua Mark 03 and it wouldnt even start :/ said something about the resolution. I installed my old dell driver now -_-;

*edit* oh any by the way with what settings do u play cod4 ? , i am at my native resulotion 1280x800 , 2x aa , some af , no shadows and the rest on the max/on.

and I can play it pretty well , except for the mission with the grass , the beginnin has in my opinion below 20 fps.

    what about u ?
