Hey guys! I just wanted to post an interesting find I've made.

I know a lot of you here don't like the Epic Games Store, myself included. It gets a lot of flak, but despite how much we despise it, there is at least one good thing about it that I've discovered, which is that there seems to be a rather large percentage of games on the EGS that do no require the launcher to be running to play them.

Here is a list of games that are currently known to work without the EGS running: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16BjnaBO40vkt6kFVl0QWMWVh86UFnr-j_yWhQbASJ58/edit#gid=0

If you do your own testing and want to contribute to the list, you can contribute your findings here: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/epic_store_games_you_can_play_without_the_epic_launcher/page1

Simply create an account on that forum and post your findings. The OP manages the list of games that I posted a link to.

There is also a list of Steam games that do not require Steam to be running to play them, but I believe the percentage of EGS games that do not require the launcher is much larger.

I have personally tested Control and Mothergunship so far. Both work without the EGS running. If I see any more free games on the EGS that I want, I will test those as well.

I want to end with this: I do not condone game piracy by any means. Everyone should pay for a game (that isn't free that is) to support the developers. They deserve compensation for their work. Having said that, I also strongly despise DRM since it only hurts the paying customers and not the pirates. I want to have the assurance that I can play my most favorite games forever since I am the type of person who goes back to play my games over and over again. There shouldn't be any mechanism that can deny me access to my games.

Origin games still require you to have origin installed, just like how ubisoft games on steam require you to have ubisoft connect installed. It's kinda stupid.

I'd rather get origin games on origin so I don't have problems with playing them offline.
