    16 bit MS Dos Subsystem

    The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction

    Nvidia GO 7700 with XP Pro SP 2 2.0 ghz Core Duo

    Directx 9.0c

    Game: Wolfenstein 3D

    any ideas?

    Wow, Wolfenstein 3D. The good old days.

    NTVDM is what windows uses to emulate old 16-bit DOS so it can run 16-bit programs. As far as I can tell, I dont think you'll be able to get Wolfenstein to run on XP.

    you can, i use Virtual PC or VMware for those kinds of games...

    or set the compatibility to Win95/98 for that particular executable

    Ah Virtual PC and VMWare. That would work.

    I always forget about the compatibility modes. I've never needed them.

    If compatibility mode doesn't work and you're too lazy to find out about virtual machines, you can find some decent DOS emulators on the web.

    I can get Wolfenstein 3d to work just fine on my Desktop with XP Pro SP 2. It is P4 chip 3.8 and ATI 700 Pro. So I wondered if it hated Centrino Duo T7200.
    I'll try the suggestions thanks.
