Yea this is my first tread, obviously because im pretty new to this whole forum thing. Im looking to buy the 1520 specs:
well all the highest possible options
i want it for gaming and school so give me the low-down -
maybe "please"?

It sounds like you are commanding someone. Change that.
Just try to find something about the 1520 by typing it in the search bar of this forum. There is a lot of information about it. NBR also has a review of the 1520, that will be helpful too. -
Huh? Well, the search button is there for a reason
As well, there are hundreds of threads on the 1520, what else do you want to know? Simply put, you get what you pay for, keep that in mind. -
yea u sound quite welcoming
im a fricking NEWBIE I DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT THE DIFFERENT THREADS THIS SITE HAS !!!!!! ...i just need a little help
-
Well, I don't know every little details of 1520, but I can help you out since I bought a dell inspiron 1520 for gaming. Ask me anything you'd like to know and I'll gladly help you out.
What did you mean by this? I don't quite understand? -
Thanks dude, i was wondering if the 8600M wasall its cracked up to be
and if there is any areas u expected it to perform in and it let u down (in games i mean -
Ya it is. It can run WIC at full quality on 1200x800 at like 10 fps. which is enough for a game like wic (where your units move slow enough that lag doesnt effect you at all)

What games did you want to play? As far as I know, 8600M GT that dell Inspiron 1520 offers, can play most, if not all, games at max/medium video settings. There has been complaints and issues that the 8600M GT offered in the Inspirons are actually ddr2 instead of ddr3 (Read the article here) but nonetheless, I have so far no problem playing games such as Rainbow Six Vegas, BF2142, HL2, and games that require highend GPU requirements. There is thread on this forum on the 8600m gt, here, that shows you the screenshots of the games taken from those who have 8600m gt graphics card.
If interested there is another good thread regarding the Nvidia 8600m performance here.
Also, there is a forum dedicated to dell laptops here on NBR which have more people on the forum who have 1520 that maybe able to answer your question more throughly if I haven't done it here.
Well, I don't really know what your aims are for your laptop, if you are into heavy gaming, yet you want a laptop rather than a desktop, you may try the asus laptop or the mac notebook as these offer 8600m gt ddr3's. For me I was limited on my budget so I bought the Inspiron 1520 for around 1200 and the only downside I can see is with the 8600m gt is that drains battery power faster than the integrated gpu.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
