    Hello everyone,

I would like to know what games have Multi-Player option (NOT ONLINE MODE) so me and my friends with their laptops can gather in my home and play with each others. By the way I have a Wireless Internet Router with also 4 ports available, but I don't like playing online, I would love to play alone with my friends on my own private home network. I like games styles like COD, L4D,Resident Evil 5, Splinter Cell, Borderlands. So if these games have Multi-Player option I will be happily to buy them :)

    Thanks 4 reading...

Freelancer, IL-Sturmovik, ARMA II, Killing Floor, BF2

of those, I personally recommend the first (if you can still find it).

Unreal Tournament 2004 is some of the most LAN fun I've ever had. Also, Halo: Combat Evolved, and Left 4 Dead/L4D2.

If you are into racing / crashing / stunt games....

Burnout paradise has a somewhat interesting Party mode, that is kind of like the game HORSE in basketball. One person sees how fast they can drive / far they can jump / how insane of a trick they can do, and then everybody else has to attempt to match it.

    You can do multiple rounds.

It is interesting, but nowhere near as good as online play.

    EDIT:

Also, you can have a "lan" game by hosting an invite only game.

Definitly age of empires, I remember my allied friend marched his army trough my town, then I closed al the gates and turned his status into enemy so my towers butchered his army ^^ Too bad he came back with an army 4 times as big and killed me off xD

Modern Warfare 2 has some pretty awesome co-op Special Ops missions. They're excellent for two players.

I also recommend Battlefield 2. I think it's the greatest multiplayer game out there for the PC so far. You can choose to play infantry only or enable vehicles such as planes, helicopters, tanks, etc. for a more exciting experience. LAN play should be pretty simple to set up too.

I second Crysis Wars too, can be pretty fun especially if you mod the suits powers beyond their default limitations.

Are ARMAII and BF2 worth it with only 4 players though?

Remember, "I don't like playing online".

Depends if you're okay playing with bots; since the majority of co-op LAN play is with bots, this shouldn't be a problem for OP. Plus ARMA II has a mission editor to create custom missions - always great for LAN play. But as I mention I still prefer Freelancer over both of those for memorable LAN play.

Should I get Battlefield 2 or Battlefield 2142 or Battlefield Bad Company for fun co-op LAN play ?? I think Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory or Double Agent have multi-player missions, I don't really remember, I love these kinds of games too

I'd say BF2. BF2142 is gimmicky and BF:BC, although improving on ground combat, is consolized and could never hope to have such large-scale vehicular battles as BF2.

edit: did you say you couldn't find Freelancer? If so, it's still readily digitally available: http://www.microsoft.com/games/freelancer/

Also, if you like combat space sims, try freespace 2 ($5 at GOG.com), nice graphics, even if the game is a few years old.

I haven't done any lan gaming with it, but I am almost certain it has that capability.

If you have played the star wars x-wing series, this game will feel somewhat familiar.

Bad Company 2 also looks to have some pretty steep system requirements so there's no guarantee that it will run well on some of our notebooks. There should be a PC beta (and maybe a demo too) coming up so you might wanna get in on that when available.
