I have read that Intel HD Graphics 3000 supports extended desktop (w/ external monitor), but I want to know how the performance will be on a setup like this:
Samsung Series 3 NP350U2A-A01US 12.5-Inch Laptop
1.4 GHz Intel Core i3-2367M low-voltage, dual-core processor (3 MB L3 cache)
500 GB SATA hard drive (5400 RPM)
4 GB of installed DDR3 RAM (maximum capacity)
Intel HD Graphics 3000 (DX 10).
Regular use, not gaming.
Note: before you bash me, forum title reads "Gaming (Software and Graphics Cards)", so this is about GPU, not gaming. Still on topic.![]()

Should be perfectly fine for regular desktop use. Unless there's some other specific application you are going to use besides a web browser, typing things up, etc. Intel HD 3000 should be fine for a little gaming as well.

Will be basic college use (browsing, reading, text editor)... some Minecraft maybe...
I am about to get this laptop for its portability, but now I am worried about the display being too small... a desktop monitor for in-house use would solve that. -
I used to have a Dell Inspiron 710m with a 12.1" 1280x800 screen. For me, I don't recall having any issues with eyestrain when using it for long periods of time. I can't say the same thing about my current Sony with a 13" 1920x1080 screen... If you mean screen resolution, the Intel HD 3000 definitely won't have any issues driving a 1080p desktop screen.
Minecraft should be fine. I played a little bit on a laptop with an Intel 4500MHD graphics chip and it played a little bit slow, but the Intel HD 3000 card should be miles ahead of that one. -
Thanks!
Extended desktop on Intel HD Graphics 3000
