In a desperate attempt to organize my game collection, I began installing them on an external hard drive. After doing so though, I noticed that my games took a while to launch and load times were sometimes slow. Is this because they are on their own separate hard drive?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Can you tell us how are you connecting the HDD to your PC? I recommend either USB 3.0 or SATA or eSATA.

Yes, the transfer times between the external drive to the laptop's RAM can be slower, but it should only be noticed in launch/load times and not regularly in-game (unless it is a game like Oblivion which access frequently the hard drive).
I hope this helps. -
If your external hard drive is connected via USB 2.0, then yes, that is absolutely the reason why it is slow.
If your external hard drive is connected via eSATA or USB 3.0, then no, the slowdown is caused by something else. -
most likely the hardrive. Build ur own external if you don't need to move it around. rosewell has some good externals plus through in a hitachi 1 or 2TB hard drive and ur set
