The first one was the best. I've played through 1 & 2 & the expansions. Might as well play through this too. Possibly in 3D.
-
I'm strictly an rpg gamer but I did played and enjoyed FEAR 1 couple of yrs. ago. I've seen screenshots of this at gamespot and it looks nice. I like this kind of first person shooter rather than those Modern Warfare types..
-
Played the beta, it's very good, graphics and lighting are good, gameplay is good.
Didn't like the first two, but yea i'll be getting it. -
I loved FEAR 1. Played it when it first came out. It hasn't aged all that well, but the AI is still really good compared to what we're still getting (hello call of duty, crysis 2!)
2 was good... enough to gather your interest in a sequel I think!
I hope there will be a demo to try it out as they've done with their previous games, would love to see how this will run. -
The first one is good but suffers in graphics to todays standards, this game looks great for a shooter but will most likely just pick it up during a steam sale, all 3 in one most likely for like 40 bucks I bet. There are too many games this year and only 2 are for sure buys, BF3 and Skyrim, all others can wait for a bit.

Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Baaaaad reports already about the longevity. 4-5 hours lol.
-
No gonna happen, just like Homefront, duke nukem and Brink. I'm going to wait until i see some reviews on it. I really feel bad for those thousands of suckers who preordered duke nukem just to Discover what a piece of crap was it. definitely not worth the $60 IMO. As for Fear 3, the multiplayer seems unique, and has some potential, thus, looking forward for some reviews.
-
In case you guys didn't know this isn't being developed by Monolith. Instead it's being handled by Day 1 Studios, the guys behind the Mechassault series for the original Xbox.
Anyways definitely a wait and see for me, prolly pick it up when it drops below $20. -
I really did like F.E.A.R. 2.. But didn't knew this even was made before I saw it on steam yesterday...
-
OMG this is going to blow i bet just started download and its only 4 gig i think its a smaller download than Homefront
man this better not be a wast of time and money.
-
I've checked and can't find any reviews (usually doesn't bode well for a game). I like the FEAR series, thought the 1st was great although monotonous grinding thru buildings but had it's creepy moments.
The second was meh but TRU has this game on their buy 2 for $50 this week. -
If its any consolation, it happened to me with homefront, i learned a $50 lesson. -
I'm really disappointed to hear the single player turned out that way. Does anyone else not miss a nice sp fps now and then? Though I never thought the series was much more scarier than say, Doom 3's monster closets... they definitely tried, applause for that much.
Multiplayer in a fear game now just seems odd to switch to.. i'll try it but, never liked it before, except it was pretty cool when the 1st games multi went free to play. -
IGN gave it a slightly better review.

Just picked it up after a doctors appointment today, been on pre-order for months. Haven't opened or loaded it up, but seeing that review I hope it wasn't a waste of my 50 bucks
But the 2 Player Co-op looks fun if I had any friends that would play it. (i'm the only one who isn't hooked on Starcraft 2 or WoW/Rift though) -
I don't know, the reviews I've seen look decent, if not great. The singleplayer appears to be both solid and innovative, while the multiplayer has garnered some pretty raving reviews.
Even so, I've got too many games on my plate as it stands to make this an instant $50 buy. It does look like fun though, so I'll probably snag it when the price drops a bit. -
It's really good, certainly makes up for Duke...
Not that DN:F was awful, and not that I expected a lot from it. Really my disappointment stems from the fact that I am no longer 14, and this type of game no longer appeals to me. It was good to see Duke again, but it was awkward, like meeting your college roommate years later that never grew up. Anyway of the games I recently picked up it is Alice: Madness Returns that really shines.

Ok i just saw the review and it looked really interesting, but the main thing im a bit worried about is if its too scary... I have completed both bioshocks, and the Aliens vs. Marines marine campaign and both Dead space games, but is this game as scary as Fear 2 or can a not so big horror fan play it without being worried?
-
That would help to set a baseline -
Fear games scary? ya having a laugh right lol

I picked this up on OnLive yesterday (I had a 100% off coupon from their promotion the other week). I actually think the game isn't half bad, it may help that my expectations were low. The game actually handles nicely, the combat and cover system felt pretty good. I haven't encountered anything "scary" in the first interval, but I didn't expect it to.
There are some criticisms that the campaign is short, around 4 hours, but it took me 2 hours to get through interval 1 and part way into interval 2. The AI and difficulty is fantastic; you will definitely get flanked by NPC's and they will move in on you. Sure as heck beats the AI on other shooters where the same guy will continue to pop up at the same fixed interval, firing the same size burst, for eternity.
There is also built in achievements and leveling in the single player campaign that carry over to the MP, I like this feature quite a bit! The ability to do another playthrough as Fettel adds some more replay value as well; just hope I can make some OnLive friends.
I have to give WB/Monolith some credit for their risk/creativity with the Multiplayer. I haven't dug into it yet, but I have viewed it in the OnLive Arena and it looks fantastic.
I've only got 2 hours on the game thus far, and didn't pay anything, so perhaps that is helping my outlook on the game. But I'm definitely glad I burned my coupon on this one and I think it should be a decent amount of fun. -

Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?
There was one moment in FEAR that kept me on the edge of my seat pretty much the whole time through. About 1/3 of the way into it, I read a review of the game that referenced "the ladder scene" as one of the scariest moments in gaming. I played in dread of this moment until the closing moments of the game - saving and quitting often when I lost my nerve. When I finally finished with no big scares, I YouTubed the ladder scene and realized it was a rather mundane little "made you jump" moment fairly early in the game. Still, I'm glad I played the game in fear of that scene - it let me play almost the whole game with the kind of foreboding and anticipation that a good horror game gives you, even though FEAR's horror element was a bit weak in the end.
@ The Happy Swede: If you're a self-proclaimed horror fan, very little mainstream horror - games, movies, books - should really be unbearable for you. After all, anything too scary alienates customers, so the producers of this kind of entertainment are good at creating a product that pushes the boundaries of comfort but leaves them intact enough that most of the audience will be able to handle it. -
BioShock was not scary at all for me. I was really surprised when people claimed it as a horror game.
But FEAR series... can't even finish them. -
I've never played a Fear game. Can I just start with #3 or would I be lost in the story?
-
I liked FEAR. I played all the way through it no problem. Then I could only get half-way through FEAR 2. May have to go back. I like the backstory.
-
Don't worry about 2 & 3 because there is no comparison. -
How does the game run on OnLive? -
I just bought FEAR 1 and 2 for $10 bucks on Steam a few days ago. It was a great deal
Definitely planning on buying FEAR 3 sometime soon too -
Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?
I feel pretty much the same about FEAR (barring the disappointed anticipation I mentioned above) - it's an excellent game, and the horror element is more pronounced than Bioshock, but its biggest success is as a game and not as a horror medium. -
I can't complain; the service has gotten better and they are starting to offer some pretty killer deals. -
Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
This game sounds so f***ed up! little girl getting impregnated by her own father and his group. Then she rapes someone. I loved the FEAR series a lot creepy as hell and some crazy goes down all the time, No wonder it's called Fu*k. Everything. And. Run.i wanna try the third now
I can't wait to try the last one in the series. Hopefully it is good Fettel seems so Bad A$$! -
-
Headcrabs made me jump (especially poison ones) in HL2, and I can't even bring myself to open the amnesia file. I may pick this up when it's cheap, but I don't know if i'll actually play it...
