hi, i jsut beat extration point expansion pack and i was just wondering about this perseus mandate expansion comin out in 10 days or so. it says its a "stand alone expansion" -- does this mean it does not require the full game? i could play perseus mandate without having fear on my computer?

If you were hoping it continues the original FEAR/EP story, it doesn't. It's a second FEAR team, not sure how they are explaining the Bullet time this time, but it's more of a parallel story.

And yes, it works by itself without having to have either of the previous games installed.

The demo was a letdown for the most part, same old locations, same gameplay, a few new uniforms and some "really" bad voice acting, no story disclosure, you do see Alma a little bit though, the only real highlight for me was combat in wet locations, underwater grenade blasts were pretty cool, I will most likely buy it, but its by the same team as extraction point, and that was a letdown as well, the true seaquel should be out Q1 of 08, thats the one I'm really looking forward to.

I have to agree. Perseus Mandate's demo is really lacking. The demo for Extraction Point at least made me want to play it, and Extraction Point itself wasn't THAT bad. I'll buy Perseus Mandate because I'm a whore, but the demo was really pretty lame and lacked a lot of the combat that made regular FEAR so much fun.

Oh, and did the guy in front of you in the demo have to use the f-word so freakin' much? I mean I love profanity and use it regularly, but it seemed like they were using it just because they could.

I hate the legal BS that allowed Vivendi to develop Perseus Mandate. Now Monolith (the original developers) of F.E.A.R. have to rename their game from F.E.A.R. 2 (like it should be) to Project Origin. They can't even use the primary character from F.E.A.R. and instead are using some sort of NON-F.E.A.R. operative. Now they have to rebuild the story to fit all of these silly little loopholes. Meanwhile, Vivendi, being a publisher, will try to over-capitalize on the F.E.A.R. brand. People will be confused when Project Origin comes out because they'll believe they have been playing sequels since Extraction Point, when in reality they were not.

Sorry for venting...this is the same crap that happened to System Shock. I mean, I love Bioshock and all...but I'd REALLY love System Shock 3 (glares at EA). Irrational Games, now 2K, deserves their IP back! Compliance is mandated! I'll release Shodan into the internet! I WILL! I'LL DO IT!

"H-h-how can you challenge a perfect, immortal machine?"

It was the way he over emphasized it so much that really made it stick out, horrible voice acting, and the barry white tone soldiers didnt do much for me either.
