So I recently got my Sager 2090, and I'm thrilled with it. Fear runs terrificly, except after 20~30 minutes of play the framerate nearly halves (I don't have the numbers, but it goes from extremely smooth and sexy to barely playable). My computer is on a flat wooden table, I'm plugged into AC power, and running no other programs. I'm using the 163.44 drivers from laptopvideo2go.com. I doubt it's a heat problem, because I played a three hour game of supreme commander last night with my friend and experienced nothing like this. My specs are in my sig (64-bit vista business). Exiting and re-entering the game fixes the problem (temporarily). It's just annoying to be extremely into it and then have to save, exit, re-enter and remember you're not actually in the game. Any ideas/solutions would be much appreciated! Sorry if I left anything out, I keep losing and this is the third time I've had to re-type this. Thanks in advance guys.

i know this isn't that helpful but what i would do is download nvidia's nTune and run the nvidia monitor in the background while you are gaming. then when things slow down, exit the game and see where your disk/cpu/memory % is at... also look at your temperature because i know my previous laptop slowed down after 30-45 minutes of use because it reached around 73C ... but i would just monitor what is going on in your laptop and what changes when your gaming becomes slower ;p

It is possible your GPU is heating up. Supreme Commander is CPU intensive, so the GPU wouldn't get as much use playing that game compared to when you play FEAR. FEAR is heavy on the GPU and it's definitely possible it heats up too high after 20-30 minutes of play. I recommend doing what kraz30g suggested just to make sure.

Okay, thanks guys. It's odd though because I'll exit, then come back in and it will be fine for another 30 minutes. I'll check it out.

alright, got the monitor. Neato. my GPU is idling at about 65 C.. and my Disk is always at 100%, is that correct?.. I could imagine it's being used all the time. oh, dropped to 99! I'll get back to you guys with some results in a minute. .. and start looking at prices for a lappy cooler. i have the CPU/RAM monitors set up in Vista already (goofy little things haha).
Edit: it just dropped off to 0% (disk). Vista is weird..

    noob question: what is superfetch?
I can kinda imagine by the name it's something that speeds things up with the hdd, making it more active.. by what means I have no idea.
update left it sitting on the table for a while, GPU was idling @ 70. I propped it up on some CD cases and now it's at 68ish. Damn, I'm not gonna have time to run fear maybe 'til later... the ladies call. I'd like to hear from other people who have the Sager 2090; if they have this kind of issue.

Do you happen to be using a Logitech G5 (or G7) mouse? If so, there is a known issue that makes the framerate drop severely after a few minutes. I had the exact same problem. The solution is here.

holy moses! I was thinking that as I left (yes, I use a G5) although it just passed through my head that it might create more heat somehow, I quickly dismissed it. I'll try that, thank you very much!
