    Hey All,

I have a lenovo T61P with the nVidia quadro nvs570 card, and I've been playing Call of Duty 4 just fine. When start F.E.A.R. I am able to play the first 10 minutes with high settings and it runs very smooth, after that it becomes choppy and runs at like 13fps.

when first started, the test scenario runs at around 40-50fps. I tried the test run after it got choppy and it ends up with around 10-15 fps.

Any idea what's going on here? is this an directX problem?

your card may be downclocking. try updating drivers and cleaning out the vents.

Not a vista issue for sure, I've played FEAR on my system, everything worked great.

Most likely it's caused by your driver, i.e. your video driver crashed during gameplay, maybe due to overheating, outdated driver conflicting with certain process, or maybe even overloaded.

It happens to me sometimes when playing COD4, pretty smooth at the beginning, then suddenly everything just froze up for couple of seconds, then back to normal, except everything becomes very laggy, very low frame rate.

Normally you would get a pop-up message (orange triangle) saying that the video driver crashed, blah blah blah... but sometimes you don't.

Anyways, just update your driver, monitor your card temperature, and see what happens.

On any vista system that I played fear on, the frame rates would go crazy. They may have fixed it since I last played it, though.

I see I see...well I tried installing the quadro drivers that were released today (175.51) and after executing it says that it could not find any drivers compatible with my hardware. I found it kind of weird because I have a quadro nvs570.

On another note, i see that I am supposed to use the modded INF, but there doesn't seem to be one - perhaps it'll show up soon.

in FEAR image settings, you can try the option of reloading the graphics core with each level. Might help.
