So, anyone got this fantastic game yet?
Unfortunately, it seems poorly optimized for the PC. Dirt 2 looks and runs better (at least on my trusty old ASUS G51VX - specs in sig).
The first race in Bahrain (I've only played Practice and Qualifying) was quite choppy in places, but I put that down to 1920x1200, 8xAA, max. settings.
It's only playable (averaging ~30 fps, with frequent drops to 25) when I tone down the resolution to 1440x900, 4xAA, high settings.

i wasnt able to run this game smoothly on native resolution , only on 720x480 with all settings low
-
I picked it up yesterday as well. I got through Bahrain and some of Australia in career mode and a time trial at the Singapore night circuit to see how it stacked up.
Those figures sound horrible performance wise! I only played it on my desktop GTX 460 and it runs very very smoothly maxed out. Great game so far, love the driving dynamics. Its rare that F1 games capture the 1st and 2nd gear power as well as this game does. -
Is it really poorly optimized? Dirt 2 and GRID ran so well I would think F1 2010 should run well too.
-
Runs great on my hp dv6-3064ca.
N930 @ 2 ghz
Radeon 5650 @ 650/950
1366*768, everything high, 4xmsaa
Played three hours last night. I love the game. Performace is just pike dirt 2, which is to say excellent and very well coded. -
Good to hear lewdvig! I was thinking of buying it as well but wasn't sure it'd run on my system.
-
Hmm I've heard that it relies on CPU power more than GPU, due to it being designed for consoles as well...Can anyone confirm how it runs with an I7 720? I have the same card as jenes, just wondering if I should get it for pc or ps3....
-
If it runs great on my amd quad core, and it is CPU dependant, then it will run great on your eight core intel CPU.
It's the exact same engine as dirt 2. -
About how many frames are you getting lewdvig?
-
im thinking of getting this too.
im just a casual race drive player and i like playing grid but i couldnt get the keyboard to be as functional as i like.
so now im playing split second which is more arcadey in controls but thats the way i like it. wonder if ill be able to setup f1 2010 similar to split seconds keyboard.
with regards to graphics, im thinking it should have the same requirements as dirt2 -
I've got it downloaded on my M11XR1 and on my Desktop. The game runs great on the M11X . Everything is set to med. and it looks & runs great no issues. On the Desktop pc everything is maxed out looks incredible .

'Tis probably not possible to play well with a keyboard. Especially if you set the assists off, which is the best way to play the game.
And yes, it has the same requirements as Dirt 2, but it still doesn't run as well as Dirt 2 on my laptop. -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Yo guys,
Clevo m860tu, x9100 @ 3,45, 4gb ddr3 and 9800m GT @ 640/1550/1000.
Game runs decently at 1280x720, all high, 2xFSAA, dxoverrider enabled. Im getting an average of 31fps, sometimes drops to 25 then up to 37.
On my desktop it doesnt run so well, i was expecting higher performance, but its not. Alot of peoples are complaining over codemaster forum..there are peoples with beast machines like i7 clocked at 4ghz with gtx 480 getting only 30fps.
My desktop details: e8500@4,2ghz, gtx 260 core 216 oced,4gb ddr2 xms corsair ram at 890mhz. The most i get is around 40fps.
So its badly ported, badly optimized,or a matter of luck. There are peoples with specs below mines and still they are experiencing better framerates.
For comparison sake, Dirt 2 on my laptop runs at around 45-50 fps, ultra high settings,1280x720 with 8xCsaa. Same SF4 (rock solid 60fps, all maximum, 8xCsaa), while shift runs from 35 to 60fps, all High, 1280x720, 2xAA.
Using Win7 x64 and latest nvidia betas, 260.something. -

Yeah, this morning I had to switch to medium to get a playable frame rate at Bahrain. Not even Crysis could do that to this computer. ;_;
-
So it's gotten progessively worse, Jenes? I was about to pull the trigger on this last night, but it seems that there are quite a few people having trouble getting it to run smoothly on systems much more powerful than mine. What resolution are you running it at? Also, how does it look on medium? I'm assuming it will still look better than the ps3 version, but I will be outputting this to my tv to use my DFGT, and am wondering about the quality.
-
I wonder my T7700 and 8600M GT are hopeless to play this game?
They should release demo so that we can test it first before buy it.
Btw, I can play Grid smoothly with decent settings. -
jenesuispasbavard Notebook Evangelist
Medium still looks pretty good, but I want to play the game as it looks in the trailers, and if I can run Dirt 2 on Ultra decently, there should be no reason this game shouldn't work (it admittedly does not look any better than Dirt 2). -
One more question, is there massive slowdown with the rain effects? -

can you please post the drivers taht you are using and driver settings, Try the betas from Nvidia site. 260.xx they might work better.
Still waiting for the game to try in next 2 days and i will post something even thought grid runs very smooth and never below 25 frames even at ultra with this CPU, as for Dirt 1 and 2 i haven't played hem a lot so i dont know what to say but i hope Codie wont ruin this Brilliant game and fix the performance issues and lets hope for DLC at the end of the 2011 season with new cars and tracks -
Runs excellent on my Acer3820TG with ATI5650.Tried it yesterday and I was impressed.
-

As of now I've tried the latest stable 258.96 WHQL drivers, and the Windows Update 198.05 drivers, neither of which show any difference in performance. -
GRID makes amazing racing games..so im hoping this ones great aswell. Both dirt 2 and GRID are optimized greatly...
-
and Yes for me Grid i thing is better than NFS shift, and its more like simulation.
Still play grid a lot lol i just need to boy a wheel and weeepyyy -
Wow i'm shocked at some of the poor performance some of you are having with this game. I'm running the game on a lowly E6750, 9800GTX+ 4GB ram and Windows 7 Home. My native resolution is 1280x1024 and all graphics settings are maxed out and vsync on.
The game runs very smooth in Bahrain and sometimes stutters a wee bit when I approach certain corners. The biggest performance hit I see and I can tell the framerate is below 30fps is when I look back. It appears to be running at 30fps and not 60fps from what I can tell and a uneducated guess. Is there a way to check your FPS?
The game is not a world beater in the graphics dept but IT IS FUN.
edit: I forgot i'm using 197.45 drivers, sorry for not mentioning that -
I'm running on a m1730 with 8700gt sli and so far runs perfect on medium @ 1920x1200 will test some more tonight at high
Awesome game though!!! -
Games runs well at 1920x1080 on high, but seeing as I only have a gtx 260m and somewhat want it to last, I've been running it at 1650x1024 on high on my 32 in 1080p tv, and I'm very impressed. Glad I took the plunge, as this is the F1 game I've been waiting for for quite some time.
We should look into getting an online championship setup....if so I call Ferrari!!! -

Everyone with GTX cards, could you post your drivers as well? Seems some people have better luck than others.
P.S. 260.63 beta doesn't help either. I waited so long for this game ;_; -

Oops double post. That switch between 3G and wifi needs a fix desperately.
-
-
Ive been running at 1900x1080 on my TV at High settings without any problems. Running the latest drivers and vbios.
-
Anyways, just finished playing the game for about a half hour. Runs fine on my setup with everything HIGH 4x AA.
This game is great so far! Sure the graphics may be a bit bland here and there, but its definitely better than grid (in my opinion, grid looks too...bright/blurry) But no where near Dirt 2. A little confused at what options I pick to start a new..event or continue the main season because I left the room when the girl was talking in the beginning. Aside from that, this game is pretty fun! Never played another F1 racing game before. Was expecting it to be meh, but it was codemasters so I knew I had to try it.
great game.
(Can someone tell me what I pick to progress the season?) -

Bahrain is the first race on the calendar. -

Just finished a long race weekend on the first race of the season. God that took forever...didnt even skip any time. Probably like 2 hours..
-
What sort of controllers are you guys using for the game?
-
Dual Force GT from Gran Turismo 5....works awesomely
-
wireless xbox 360 controller master race.
-
jenesuispasbavard Notebook Evangelist
Microsoft Xbox 360 Racing Wheel, with the Microsoft Wireless Gaming Receiver. It's the only thing keeping me playing the game to be honest, after the disappointing performance.
-
Jenes, to help you out, my driver is, I believe, 196.xx, ive only upgraded it once since I've received it, due to the infamous BSOD's on the G51J. Like I said, it has been running smoothly, but when I get home tonight I will check on it and make sure for you.

Anyone have problems connecting to online games? I just get "connection failed" every time

methinks that codies made this much more cpu driven....I've been running fine at 1600x1024 with no hiccups, all settings on high, aa x4
I have the steam copy (USA) if that helps -
What steering wheel you guys using for this? I wonder how this plays on my system:
5870m and i5-520m
I'll use my external monitor...which is a 32 inch 1360x768 monitor. -
I am getting a constant 20fps, its really bad for a game like this but we might see performance improvement and i hate the way car reacts when its off the road
Was expecting more from this game but its OK after lots of years without official F1 game for PC -

as i can see at Gpu-Z the Gpu load is about 50-60% while playing and when i go at the menus its goes at 99.
This game makes your CPU like its nothing i know mine is not good at all its low low low end CPU.
I had to ago at software audio and i gained about 5FPS you should give a try too.
Here an interesting link how you might fix some bugs and some performance
just scroll down a bit and you will see PC section.

Two things I discovered about this game:
a) I get a nice performance boost running it in Windowed Mode.
b) On my system it runs better in Windows XP than it does in Windows 7. If I run it in Windows 7 the game at certain points will begin to buck and wheeze and it literally turns into a temporary slide show at times with 1-2 second pauses then smooths back out. And when it smooths out it runs glorious but it's absolutely unplayable in Windows 7. Whereas in Windows XP it runs very smooth at all times.
