OK.
I bought the laptop and installed an extra with a total of 2gb. Its got a 8600m gs, Duo T7300.WoW runs fine and BF2142 alright. I also put XP on it with some difficulties and I didn't see much of an improvement. So Vista is back on. My question is what drivers are best for BF2142, or good drivers in general. I've tried a couple with no real performance increase. Also, I have read that you can some how allocate more RAM to the gpu, so instead of the 256mb it has now, i could add 256mb more and have 512mb. So is this possible and how can I do this?
Thank you and if this type of question is posted often Im sorry, I did do some searching.

the best and the most stable drivers at the moment are in my opinion 169.04. also the allocating of ram as video memory is done by the system itself and u cant change the amount it uses. i doent make a large difference in preformance though

i have the same setup as you, and i find that the asus driver is most stable for me. I have tried most of the drivers from laptopvideo2go, but they all seem to be unstable and they seem to skip random frames while im gaming. Try the newest driver from the asus support site.

under the Counterstrike video stress test the drivers from laptopvideo2go averaged about 1fps higher (not really that much difference when i was getting around 80 or 120 i really cant remember, its been a while), but because of the instability of them im sticking with the asus ones.

OK. So I have 165.01. They seem to run the best of all the drivers from laptopvideo2go. But i will try the latest from asus. And CS:S got about 90+fps on stress test.. YES!! some good results finally.. And bf2 runs good on medium.. bf2142..not so much.. Thanks

Eh something weird happened.. I had my 8600m gs oced to 600/500, up from 500/400. Which is what it says on the Nvidia site. About an hour into bf2(high settings) the screen went black and was unresponsive. So i manually turned laptop off and returned to playing Bf2. Yet the same settings it was lagging bad, ping was normal but horrible lag and choppiness. I dont think i pushed the vc to hard. Anyone know what happened. Thnx.

well... those clock speeds shouldnt be high enough to wreck anything, ive had mine clocked higher than that before... it didnt switch to power saving mode or anything when you did the restart did it?

I fixed it i think. When i oced the gpu i set it to 600/500 +/- 5. But when i increased the memory to say 550 its was like it was before. temps are high 80's low 90's so i need to get a cooling pad. Any recommendations?
