Hello everyone,
I come to u all very desperate. I just bought a new Asus G50 Laptop...
Specs-
Core2 Duo P8400 2.26GHz
4GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM
NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GS (but the system says it's GT not GS)
Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit w/ SP1
Now i bought the new comp for gaming obviously... mostly for FFXI and BF2... but i've ran into a problem. The installation of FFXI was easy and no problems with setup. But when playing the game it's got extremely low FPS. I've tried changing the setting to the lowest and highest with no change in the FPS. I've searched all over for info on this and the only thing I found was some Drivers by NVIDIA but the one's for Windows Vista 64-Bit says that I have no drivers compatible for the update.
So i'm asking anyone here who's got a 9800M GT Graphics Card if u can help me fix the FPS problem i'm having. Because I Know it can't be anything other than the drivers or something to do with the graphics card to be the problem cuz this computer can handle BF2 w/ ZERO problems on MAX settings. lol
Thank you everyone ^^

Go here
http://laptopvideo2go.com/
Follow directions and install the latest 64bit drivers, see if this helps, if not try an older one. -
Unfortunatly you picked the wrong operating system for playing ffxi. Here are a couple of drivers specifically meant for playing ffxi on vista, none of these will give you the same performance as playing on xp though. Also make sure you download the vista version of POL. Other than adjusting the drivers your pretty much out of luck. Other problems that you will experience since you picked 64 bit vista is the config screen will probably crash also. So you will have to edit the registry to adjust the resolution and other settings. =/ wish I could help you more, but I don't play ffxi anymore.

I've tried all those and they all say that they can't find a compatable driver.

Hey bwhxeon, i downloaded all those files u said to and extracted them to a single folder. but i dunno what u mean by "Then download the inf file from laptopvideo." and all. Today Nvidia released a new file for drivers of my graphics card but not for the laptop version of that card (9800M GT). So i'm gonna ask if u could give me the steps to do the rest of this in a computer idiots point of view? I Have basic computer knowledge but none when it comes to inf files and all.
So i downloaded the updates and extracted all into 1 single folder. What's the url for the inf file i need to download and once i do that what do i need to do then? thanks a lot man i appreciate it. -
No problem stay online for a little while and I'll post some pictures to walk you through it.

OK first for the most recent driver available for your operating system use this link. http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=21839
To keep things organized, make a new folder on your desktop and title it 180.48.
The page will look like the picture below I have circled in black the two things you need to download, click them and wait for them to download.
You should have two new icons on your desktop see picture below. The two files you downloaded are circled in red.
Drag the new icon named 18048_vista64 and put it in the folder your created.
Now double click the icon and let it automatically extract in the folder.
You will now have a new folder in your driver folder. See picture below
Next go back to your desktop and select the other icon named nv_disp
and drag it to the new folder that was created when you extracted the display driver. You will get a message seen in the picture below select the option in circled in red.
Now go into the folder you just dropped the icon in and scroll down till you find a blue wave icon that says setup seen in the picture and double click it.
Once you start running the application, it will most likely warn you that they are not signed drivers ignore it and hit continue. After it has finished running you will have to restart your computer and you should be done. -
Oh ok... i see. Well i'm gonna try it. I'll post again with the results if it helped or not. I just didn't pay close enough attention to the pages i looked at... thanx.

Ok well this is weird. I did everything u said... and when it initiallized to install the drivers it said that the system i'm installing them on is not a Vista 64-Bit system and the process will be cancelled. I hit ok cuz it's the only option. Could u tell me why it'd say that? Could it be because my computer was a manufactured one? or something else? cuz on the system page of my control Panel it says i have a Windows Vista 64-Bit w/ SP1.

Download the Vista64 bit driver version. Make sure that you dont download the xp64 one only the vista64 driver. Then follow the instructions that were given to you on this thread. GOOD LUCK.!

>.> I don't know what to tell you, I gave you the 64 bit driver link because you said you have vista 64. If it says you don't have a 64 bit driver try this one instead its for 32 bit vista
