FIFA 09 or PES 09?

I was thinking to get a soccer game but wanted to know which one to buy?
Do you guys like Fifa 09 or PES 09?

Its a difficult one, especially this year. I have played plenty of both, and have been a PES fan for a long long time. PES2009 is a good step forward from the crappy 2008, its a solid game, just nothing really new about it, its pretty much what 2008 should have been.

I was out of the FIFA series for a while until I heard good things about FIFA2009, its actually pretty decent, passing and shooting is nice, though game speed might be alittle slow for me liking. Neither will disappoint, have you played either series previously?

 

yes, I played all FIFA series till 08. But this time,the reviews says that PES 09 is supreme to Fifa 09. So just willing to know if there was anything special about it. Just wanted to taste some new gameplay and new graphics if PES is really good.

 

Pick up a copy of PES then. MY favourite is still PES6, haha. The game play is very different, less end to end stuff I'd say, more build up and passing. But thats just my opinion. Though PES' downside is the goalies, they have always been alittle..."stupid".

 

Fifa has stunk it up lately. I agree with above comments PES 09 is better, but it really is what 08 should have been. There are no soccer games that blow you away in 09, hopefully they're planning to surprise us with world cup editions in 2010.

 

I am hoping for some positive changes in PES2010, Konami have been using the same formula for too long. Konami will still have the Champion's league license, and I hope they will in coporate that into master league. A couple more league licenses would be great. I have been hoping for a better GK for years, maybe it will come lol.

I have actually been playing more NHL09 this year.

 

Though FIFA is losing ground to PES, it is still the better simulation. The presentation and layout of FIFA is so much better than PES. And you can do the robot after you score goals in FIFA 09

 

If you want to play a soccer game, then buy FIFA. If you want to play soccer, then buy PES.

 

I was a long time Fifa fan since I played PES 6, it is still the best game in the series with the PES 9 come after (well PES 8 is a crappy game), the PES series is superior to FIFA in term of gameplay, there are much more realistic football in PES than FIFA.
But one complain is the AI of player in PES9 got problems. Player react the through pass in a very stupid way, and the auto sliding has ruined many of my matches since I had to earn stupid penalties from that. The AI of FIfa is much better but in term of realistic gameplay, they can not reach the level of PES.

 

agree with dukka. playing pes 2009 and enjoying it. very tough gameplay; i've been on amateur for quite some time, then switched to regular and was amazed on how much more difficult it was. Got used to it, and now kicking arse
the only problems i see with it are the ones described by dukka, and also the way the game selects the players that are closest to the ball: it is very amusing. overall, a very nice game. recommend

I have Fifa 09 and it's quite good, although I've never played PES 09 so I can't compare the two. Either of them is a good choice from what I've heard about PES 09.

 

People still dont realize tha FIFA IS NEXT GEN ONLY ON CONSOLES.

the PC pes = console pes.
PC FIFA = console fifa 5 years ago.

if ur on a pc, its a no brainer get PES.

if ur on consoles, THEN you have to choose between the two and both are good.

 

I disagree. Over the last two years, FIFA has absolutely dominated PES in terms of quality for console gaming.

PC -- I agree with you.

 

To be precise, PC PES nowadays is Xbox360 ported PES. It used to be PS2.

 

I honestly can't speak on this from a PC point of view as i'm not really into PC gaming; but I do have both games for the PS3 and IMHO FIFA's gameplay is much harder than PES. That's really the only Con I have about FIFA. PES can't come close to the amount of features that FIFA has...and FIFA owns PES on the graphics side too (PS3) by a mile...if I may add.

But for me i'd prefer playing FIFA in multiplayer mode, against someone rather than against the computer. Single player mode in PES owns FIFA due to the harder AI gameplay on FIFA. So yea, IMO FIFA owns PES in everything except for single player mode gameplay. As to which one is more realistic I honestly can't say.

 

I normally play SP rather than MP, so I guess I will go with PES. Lets see how difference it is between them.
