I see that fifa 13 is $16 at gmg, for people who have played both fifa 12 and fifa 13, are many of the bugs in fifa 12 fixed in fifa 13? for example, players waiting for the ball to roll to them while the opposition takes it, or random assisted passing/crossing, especially when the ball is bouncing. i play with keyboard so these are important for me. thanks!

most bugs are not fixed, unfortunately. they've worked out the Impact Engine bugs a little bit, but the refereeing is still as crappy as it was. they've also introduced a new "First Touch" feature which makes controlling an incoming ball nearly impossible unless you're Lionel Messi or are completely standing still when receiving it; otherwise the ball just bounces as if it's massless, kind of like how a baloon bounces off a wall. most of my complaints are about the AI, so if you always play online with friends, you won't encounter them as much as when you're playing against the computer.
i have to note that i have FIFA 13 on Xbox 360 and FIFA 12 on my PC. the latter (12) has microstutters constantly which makes it very annoying to play the game. the Xbox 360 version is smooth as silk. so i don't know if the lags and stutters have been fixed in the PC version of FIFA 13 or not. -
the game is simply crap. I don't know what version of football the EA guys watch, but it certainly ISN'T recreated in FiFa. There are lots of things it does well - player animations are brilliant, probably the best in any sports game, graphics are good, but everything else is SO poor. The game is played at breakneck speed, the impact engine still screws up more times than it doesn't, and the AI is horrible. For anyone like me who has been playing FIFA since '98 the game just isn't challenging and has abusable mechanics - when I play against the AI I have to TELL myself not to use the skill stick because otherwise the game becomes to easy.
As mentioned, referees are horrible. I play many games (I usually play 8-10 min halves) without giving away a SINGLE foul - yeah seriously, because people tackle that perfectly in real life.
Pes 2012 wasn't great, but this year, Pes 2013 really made some marked improvements. If you are an offline player who wants a more realistic experience, I'd strongly recommend PES. On PC it is easy enough to install terrific global patches that EASILY fix the license and player issues and in many ways are more accurate than FIFA's with regards to boots, player abilities (all the 'special' player abilities are done much better in PES), and the top players - like Pirlo, Iniesta, etc. PLAY like top players, Teams PLAY like they are supposed to. Also EA's player rating system is pretty off, this is better in PES. Free kicks are better (EA implemented a "new" free kick system that pretty much involves getting one lousy extra player to shoot/make dummy runs, but free kick controls are much better in PES, where there are in essence 5 different grades of free kicks from Max power to Max placement).
You see goals in PES that you just never see in Fifa. I did this one goal with Xabi Alonso playing a diagnol ball from deep right midfield and because of his 'weighted ball' ability his long passes have tremendous back spin. The ball sailed over the defenders heads, but because of the back spin dropped just beyond them and sat up perfectly for Ronaldo to burst through the defensive line, chase down the ball and score on the half volley.
You can't play a long ball like that in Fifa, its all just Tiki-taka ping pong passing that really frustrates me. Fifa was the series for me the last couple of years but if EA keeps going down this path... -

^ ah...brilliant! i second this. never played PES myself, but i agree 100% with everything else niharjhatn says above (except the Aero theme being the cause of stuttering in FIFA 12).

I've never had an interest in PC soccer games but I bought this for $16 instead of torrenting it. Then I discovered it's really complicated with the controls. I'll see if it works with an Xbox 360 controller for PC.

oh it works just fine with the Xbox 360 controller on the PC. i've been playing FIFA 12 like that for a year now.
