Is there any really good gamepads for pc that would work smoothly on battlefield. I have the logitech rumblepad, I configured it to my liking but I want to know if there is better.

hmmmm... there's the 360 controller which is PC compatible. However I don't know if you can ONLY use it for Games for Windows labeled games, or just anything.

I have it and it works in any games: I bought it for colin mcrae 2005 and some emulators. You won't be able to use the rumble functions on anything than "games for windows" labeled games....

xbox 360 controller is really good, and if the game doesn't support gamepad, download xpadder, you will then be able to use your gamepad, its an emulation for keyboard and its very customizable. I used it to play COD 4

Will the 360 controller work for the battlefield series (1942, 2 and 2142)?

So, I guess you haven't played battlefield on both pc and console. If you did, you would know that console fps don't compare. I love all the battlefield series on pc. I've played battlefield 2 with a logitech gamepad and I was great with it. I'm looking for the best pad, because even though keyboard and mouse are more precise, they're still uncomfortable to me.

The 360 controller is really hands-down the best for a Windows operating system. The wired one has native support, while the wireless one requires a dongle that you can buy from Microsoft. It's very well built and works with all games, but with the "Games for Windows" tagged ones, like Gears of War for the PC, it offers native mapping, so it's just like playing on the Xbox 360.

The 360 controller seems to be a great choice, but I've been researching the Saitek P990 USB Wired. It seems to be a good controller, I guess I just have to buy them both

Get a Belkin Nostromo N52 speedpad and a Deathadder. The belkin is a usb keypad that you can customize the keys and store profiles for different games. It is incredible the control you can have, and it's only $37, plus you won't wear out your keyboard. I tried the 360 control and it didn't seem sensitive enough. The Deathadder is excellent also. :)

I own both and use both for all fps's. You just can't play a first person shooter without a keyboard and mouse. The Nostromo is the best money spent towards my computer this Christmas and believe me I bought a lot of goodies. It is ultra comfortable and if you have a laptop you can push that thing back on your desk and pull the mouse and pad towards you so you don't have to be too close to the screen. You could even lap the Nostromo if you want to lean back more. It's light, sleek and ultra geeky for us awesome gamers!

Is there a program that allows the Xbox 360 controller to act like a generic controller with rumble? It's just gotta suck if you can only use it for "Games for Windows". My 360's dead and I'm sure I can still use the other accessories til' I get another 360.

BTW, can I use more than 1 360 controller if I only have one receiver?

You could use the xbox 360 controller for any game on the market, the only issue is if the game supports gamepads, i know COD 4 does not, so i used xpadder to make it work with a gamepad, change the mouse sensitivity settings to move around faster. Also the rumble would only work if the game supports it.

Ahh. So it works with any game that supports a gamepad and not just "Games for Windows" games? Nice. Thanks for the info!
