I recently purchased a Dell e1505 with the following specs:
T2400 (1.83ghz), x1400 256 Mb hypermemory, 1gb of ram, and an 80gb 5400 rpm hard drive. I'm currently using Windows XP Home, and the new Catalyst mobility 6.8 drivers. (No dell bloat-ware or anything, reformatted the day I got it.)
The problem I encountered with this laptop is that when I play Counter-strike 1.6 and when I'm in 1 smoke, my FPS drops to 30 and fluctuates between 30 and 40. I tried to set the affinity to 1 CPU and it still had the same problem. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could help.
**I am using 800 by 600, AA/AF is on "Let the application decide", I get 100 fps while moving and what not and in gunfire; however, it only drops when i'm in smoke.**

Why is this a big deal? 30-40fps in smoke is still 100% smooth...as long as you're getting 100fps otherwise it's hardly a big deal.
Why using 800x600? 1.6 would run maxed out on a five year old 32mb video card... -

Check Dell's support website and download the latest video drivers. Follow the steps at the top of this guide:

You should have no problem running maxed out. An X1400 is more than overkill for it. -

No!!!
Never use Dell Drivers they are outdated.
Use Omegas 6.7's or the new Cat 6.8's from the direct download link in the Drivers thread. -
