Does anyone know if you get better fames per second when playing FPSs in windowed mode or do you get less? specifically CS 1.6/CS:CZ/CS:S.

You will get a couple more FPS, mostly because vsync is automatically disabled in a Windowed mode. GPU doesnt need to match the LCD's refresh rate. Of course, if you lower the resolution in windowed mode, youll get even more of a jump. Since its more fun to play fullscreen, just do that and disable vsync.

I've found games run worse in windowed mode; since the comp also has to do some work to draw the explorer shell and other programs. When an app is fullscreen all the graphics power is dedicated to it.
    Nothing major though.

It probably will not be a noticeable difference in FPS either way.

I don't know about CS, but when I play WoW at home i get between 5-10 more FPS playing in fullscreen instead of windowed mode.

I run WoW in a 1024*640 widescreen window so I can use msn at the same time. It seems to run exactly the same, although it can falter after being minimised or switched over etc.
