I got a major (10-15 fps) boost with the new nvidia beta drivers (listed as 256, but actually 257.15). Try 'em out!

What's your card?
-
on what did you get that boost? what game/application?
-
must be on solitare.. so far that driver has all been a big problem from what i heard.
-
but on a serious note, i totally agree. Only for the very high end cards has it shown any performance gain. -

I remember NVIDIA claiming with these new drivers that those with NVIDIA cards, specifically Fermi, would get a 40% boost in performance in Metro 2033 (DX11) compared to the old 1xx.xx series.
And they say ATI sucks in terms of drivers, seems NVIDIA's taking that title up fairly quickly. -

For me, Borderlands is much smoother (not 10fps, more like a 3-5fps increase) but it's definitely made an increase, and I've actually lowered my clocks. Only problem is that the system runs hotter (Crysis wasn't even getting me to 70, and Borderlands was running at 71/72, which is dangerously close to throttling levels) and crashes often (literally the whole computer) when running Opera. It was fine before, and I haven't installed any other updates, so my only conclusion is these drivers (not a complete problem however, as putting my m15x into stealth mode stops it crashing).

I hate that driver, my gpu runs 5-8 degrees hotter.

I've seen noticeable performance improvements from the 257.15 drivers across several games on my U30Jc. Then again, it is the latest available generation of mobile GPU from nVidia. I agree with the general sentiment that it's only really going to improve performance significantly on modern cards, but that's kind of to be expected, isn't it? Older cards have probably had as much performance as new drivers are going to give gleaned out of them already.
I do have it installed on my T61 as well, and performance there is basically a wash. I haven't noticed any increased heat or reduced battery life, either, though.
