New to PC's with my Dell E1505, 1.66 Core 2 Duo, ATI X1400, 1 gig ram.

Not a major gamer - but I have an old xbox and liked the usual shooter games - Doom3, HL-2, Wolfenstein ..... not a fanatic about it.. but enjoy blasting away sometimes.

So I would like to have something on Laptop when I travel away from home -
I can live with med quality settings on a game to get 35-45 FPS - just something when I have a few hours in an airport or hotel or something.

So any suggestions for game(s) for my new laptop? Would quake 4 run okay at medium settings? Something else ..maybe a little older game?

Quake 4 should run quite well on there. Otherwise most older games, older quakes, dooms, HL2 and other source based games should run on full settings.

Have you tried War Rock? Good fps, would run at full and it's free! Also doesn't hog a lot of HDD space so it's good for mobile machines. All online though...

I really like the x1400, its a great card. I was able to overclock it from 439/445 stock to 539/445 max. And it benched at just over 2600+ in 3DMark05. I run it at 515/445 though and it gets 2500+ 3DMark05 and 60+ FPS in Half-Life-2 at 1280x800 so I'm happy.

what i run it at: 2530
    max: 2650
