I have recently aquired a real gaming system, so I'm about to get a nice FPS/action game for it...

I was thinking about Crysis or Fallout, because I haven't played either of them, but I don't know whether to get the most recent sequels, or the first game (Crysis vs Crysis warhead, or Fallout 1 vs 3).

I assume sequels have better graphics and overall experience, but I enjoy the plot as well, so I don“t know what to do. I will get only one right now.

    Thoughts? recommendations?

Crysis is an FPS, but Fallout 3 is more of an RPG. They have quite different play mechanics.

Call of Duty 4 is very worthy of consideration. The Fallout series, especially 1and 2, are not FPS games, but RPG games.

I am not a big fan of RPG's, but I am intrigued by the combination of FPS/RPG of Fallout 3 everyone talks about...

Fallout three is an excellent game, though until you understand the game mechanics, the combat can seem a bit funny for FPS fans (like if you have a low weapon skill, a couple of headshots may not guarantee a kill on some enemies, see the Fallout 3 Gameplay thread for more info).

If you get the first two fallout games, you will be severely disappointed, what with them being strategic turn-based RPGs and all...

As far as graphics go, crysis and crysis warhead are pretty much identical, I believe - the first two fallouts, however, are run with 2D sprite engines, where Fallout 3 runs on a variation of the engine used in Oblivion.

I think that were you to get Crysis (either), Fallout 3 (if you like RPGs too), or even Unreal Tournement 3, you'd be pretty happy with it.

These are the games you want. ;) Some of the older ones are priced under $10 and still offer decent graphics and great gameplay.

    Newer Games:
    Orange Box (best value overall!!!)
    Bioshock
    Crysis: Warhead
    Dead Space
CoD 4 (overpriced if you are not into multiplayer)

    Older Games:
    Far Cry
    F.E.A.R.
    Prey
    Quake 4
    Doom 3
