    Hi Guys,

Just bought a new laptop... installed FS9 and I now have a problem with windowed mode. For some reason, the sim works fine in fullscreen however in windowed mode the screen is frozen. The game still sounds like its running, however the video is frozen whenever i try to change views. The view does work, however when the screen is "undocked.". Any suggestions? Here are my specs:

    Dell Vostro 1500
Pentium Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHZ
    Windows Vista Basic
    2.0 GB Ram
256mb NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT** Have most recent laptopvideo2go drivers
    120 GB HDD

Well, my first inclination is to say its a driver issue. The most recent driver isn't always the best driver. I have run into problems with drivers in FSX, it seems a bit picky. Graphics drivers are really hit or miss and you may need to try a few before you find one that works well. Did you recently update the graphics driver? And if so did it do this before the driver was updated?

It didnt work before the driver update (Dell Stock).. maybe its the program itself? All my other games run fine. Even this game runs fine in fullscreen mode, but if youre familar with the game and its addons i basically cant run it in FS mode... lol any other suggestions?

    I have the same problem.

But I've yet to try it with the new drivers 163.44. Heard its a good driver, so maybe i'll try it out.

I can't set every slider at its highest, beacuse the fps will drop to about 20. Maybe i need to look at the fs9.cfg and make some changes to it. How's your performance in FS9 under VISTA?

When i have it in full screen mode (the only mode that works), it stays around 40FPS (I have it locked at 40).

FS9 hates the vista aero interface, I know you said vista basic, but the symptoms are exactly the same as mine with aero enabled.

If you open the properties of the shortcut, click compatibility and check the box for "Disable Desktop Composition" it should work just fine.

Does it really help fps? Whenever I turn on clouds or AI my fps drops insanely. And the game is boring without AI and clouds...

Can you post your specs for me?

For a 3+ year old game, FS9 is an intensive program if you want it looking nice.

you can't run FS9 if full screen with a 8600m gt?!!!!

my fs9 runs at ALL max settings with tons of addons at 50 fps with an 8600m gt.

you must have some other issues slowing your computer down.
