Hello. Well, I just got Flight Sim X yesterday and installed it and it worked great! Medium-High graphics and running smooth as butter, but today, when I went to play it while on battery power, it was choppy and lagging like crazy. I though this was strange becuase I hadn't changed any of the graphics settings since the last time I played. So I plugged my lappy in again and it was running fine! unplugged it and it immediatly started to chop. (And I have my comp set up so that it runs on High Performance battery mode when I'm not plugged in).
    Any solutions to this problem?
    -Thanks-

When you disconnect your notebook it goes into power savings mode and automatically clocks down the GPU to save power. The GPU power setting is dependent on the graphics driver and not the High Performance battery mode which just affects the CPU.

Check your video cards control panel and look for something called Nvidia PowerMizer or ATI Powerplay depending on which card you have.

Set it to maximum performance on all battery modes.

Ok, I've looked everywhere but I cannot find PowerMizer. Where is it?

If you're using Vista, Powermizer is supposed to automatically clock up to full speed as necessary.

Make sure you're in the high performance profile. Furthermore, go into the advanced power options and ensure that anything that affects speed is set to the same when under battery power as it is when it's plugged into the wall. In particular, you want to set the maximum CPU performance state to 100%.

In Vista, set your power option to "High Performance." In XP left click your battery icon and set your mode to "Home/Office Desk"

Okay. I'm under High Performance mode, I just did everything everybody said and it hasn't changed a bit. Every setting for under battery power is on the same as when it's plugged in and still i'm getting nothing. This makes no sense.

Ok. For some reason, nothing I've tried has worked. I must say though, i'm about to give up for fear of doing something which could mess up my comp.
Any other ideas before I lose hope? lol

Yeah, gaming on battery is not such a good idea, you will drain your battery in less than hour. Especially something intensive like FSX?

True. But it just seems kind of awkward that i'm basically not allowed to game on battery power if I want to.
