Fable III PC To Spearhead Another Microsoft-Led PC Push? - Giant Bomb

It's good to see Fable 3 heading for PC. Maybe it gives hope to Halo Reach and Gears 3 as well, since both Fable 2, Halo 3 and Gears of War 2 never came to PC despite popular belief that they would eventually get announced(but didn't).

But this is not the first time, Microsoft have claimed to reinvest in PC.

GFW and GFWL are flawed, and should go away. They might as well become a Vessel to Steam and at least earn some good money on sales instead of these half hearted attempts thinking they can do anything other than annoy PC users who don't need that stupid crap.

Doubtful but its nice to think if they will, It would be nice to see a Halo 3 Port, to avoid the 10 year olds on Xbox Live. and a few other ports etc, and a few games, But I don't see it coming.

Microsoft, bring back Ensemble Studios and ACES Game Studio, kill GFWL, then we will talk.

Connect with Steam and they get some Rep, But I doubt they will go to all that trouble.

Fable series can actually be expanded and improved by PC gaming and its community.

Halo and Gears of war are really console games that could at best be given a "port".

I would willing trade Halo, GoW, and every other console FPS for the fable series designed for the depth, length, decisions, and expandability of a PC game.

I'd trade ME2, DA:O and any other recent RPG games for a RPG experience with depth, length, decisions and expandability :p

Right... so remake them without the limitations of consoles (and the console "community") and you have a winner.

Really hoping for Gears of War 3 for PC with 60 fps at 1920x1200, however I have my doubts and will probably have to buy it for my Elite 360 instead and play it in 30 fps that hits 20 fps when heavy fighting is going on :(

This sounds exactly like... NOTHING. For god's sakes people releasing Fable 3 on PC isn't going to change the landscape of PC gaming. Gears #1 on PC is a joke. Halo 2 Vista Only was a joke. GFWL does absolutely nothing what MS said it would and most PC gamers now think twice about a game sporting this badge of dishonour. I think the world can do without another MS led PC push fro gaming thank you very much.

Either get rid of GFW/L or actually make it do what you say it does MS. THEN I might have some faith in your "push". Until then, this sounds like MS trying to make up for their lame E3 showing with some hoo-ha to get some more press about-wait... We already knew Fable 3 was coming to PC, why is this news?

On Gears of War: it is by no means a joke but rather an excellent port. The issue is that it was strangled by the GFWL overlayer, causing a myriad of compatibility issues. But the game itself is excellent.

I am not sure how do you base that Fable 3 was coming to PC. I mean, jundging that neither Gears of War 2 nor Halo 3 came to PC (AAA 360 games) I'd have assumed there was no reason to port Fable 3.

In regards to GoW yes GFWL is total sh1t like it is on every game. AND That stupid wargame.exe error where you need to set your computer's date to pre 2009 IIRC certainly wasn't exuding "Quality and compatibility" as in the GFW mission statement.

As for Fable 3... it was confirmed weeks ago and rumored months and months before (like summer 2009) that it was coming to PC.

    http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/63916

And Fable 1 is on PC too.

So I stand by my post. This PR wagon by MS is full of nothing. Want to give PC gaming a push... ditch GFW/L MS.

    But not Fable 2.

In any case I agree in the GFWL... a terrible mistake created by MS...

Fable 2, isn't cause lion studios? Was paid to keep it xbox exclusive Same with Alan Wake, It was meant for PC but then became Xbox exclusive..

GFWL, I think was a poor attempt to out beat Steam, and it failed rather hard.

Yes, we know its coming to PC but we don't know when. MS didn't show anything about the pc version, at E3 meaning it might come after the Console one is released and might be a port.

Fable III PC date still uncomfirmed

    Fable III Xbox Exclusive

    Hate is coming.

Though GFWL can be tedious, I advocate even failed attempts at catering to the PC gaming market.

Sigh.... I hope Fable 3 is not just a console port.

-It will be limited by the ancient hardware of the xbox.
-Control scheme for mouse extremely limited or just plain clunky due to being designed for a console controller
-Humor, dialogue, and situations in game tuned down to make sure it gets a "console friendly" maturity rating.
-It will be limited by the market of the console ("you win" flashing above the head of main character every 3 seconds to appeal to the console market)

I hope its designed for the PC and properly nerfed for the console.

(PS, the "you win" flashing comment is a joke, but they do indeed make console games easier by default)

I don't understand console hatred.. although the Xbox hardware is older, it's pretty amazing what some developers have done with it. They've been able to optimize their games great for it.. when I play Modern Warfare 2 on my Xbox on my 50" 1080p screen it looks beautiful.

Why must something be nerfed for the console? From a developer perspective, the console version is more important because you will see more people purchasing it, versus people stealing it on the PC.

And again, the ESRB rating applies to both console and PC games.. that point doesn't really make sense. Plenty of console games are M.

I enjoy the Fable series. Never had the computer power at the time to run the first game when it came out for PC. Fable 2 is Xbox 360 exclusive but I like it. There is a lot to do, but it's quite glitchy and buggy. What really annoys me is that even at 720p, Fable 2 seems to struggle to maintain 30fps. It really bothers me because I know that my hardware right now would laugh at the game @ 1920x1200. Sigh.

I look forward to Fable 3, especially on PC. Let's hope it's not too buggy!

Fable 3 is only coming, because Peter Molyneux is now in the position to force them to let him release it on the PC.

This isn't the beginning of a new initiative.

On 4 June 2009, he was promoted to Creative Director of Microsoft Game Studios, Europe.

Now he can personally decide where his games go.
