i'm playing fable right now and it's pretty entertaining. so are there any other games that are similar to Fable for PC? i played and have enjoyed Gothic but haven't had time to try Gothic 2 and 3. anyone know if they are as good as the first? i'm not looking for something as open ended as Oblivion b/c of my time constraint. maybe NWN is another possibility. any suggestions?

Gosh, I've never played anything quite like Fable, which was an amazing game IMHO. :)

I'd be interested in knowing the answer to your question as well.

Gothic2 is a very good game so if You play it, You won't regret it...
And about fable... Fable is unique :p NWN is a great game too (I enjoyed it)... Too bad that NWN2 is to heavy for my dragon. Try also Jade Empire or Kotor...

Jade Empire, like the other guy said, it's the most fable like game that i can think so.

The Witcher is a lot like Fable, albeit with a more mature, dark story. Its considerably more linear than Oblivion but much, much deeper than Fable in terms of story development and moral choices.

Jade Empire is also a lot like Fable, you won't be disappointed.

The Witcher has some pretty nasty translation issues (the US development team chopped out about 20% of the English dialogue to save cash on voice actors.. cheapskates), but there is a third party fix that lets you see much a much better translation in the subtitles. Its a bit disorienting when about half the subtitles dont match what you're hearing the characters say, but the extra detail information is really handy. I'd definitely recommend you look into the improved subtitles to get the most out a great story that got somewhat lost in translation.
