Fallout 3 might be the most infuriating game ive played in a while. The game crashes on average 1-2 an hour. I can easily Cnt-Alt-Del out of the process, but thats no excuse for it.

I just encountered a particularly infuriating moment in the Big-Town med clinic basement. Upon opening entering the basement, the game autosaved and crashed at the same time. It then proceeded to crash upon loading that same save over and over again until i was forced to revert to an earlier save game state.

What the hell. Its the GOTY edition.

    Stock - crashes
NMC texture pack - still crashes
Reinstalling 1.7 patch - still crashes.

This appears to still be a widespread problem with the game and its turned me off the game for a bit to be honest.

Fallout 3 series is notorious for crashes, bugs, and glitches. I remember killing a guy that was a boss for a quest (at the time I didn't have the quest). So when I got the quest afterwards, the game crashed because apparently it couldn't cope with the missing quest object. Why the developers couldn't code the game to accommodate people getting impatient and killing a bandit boss w/o quest on is a mystery.

Defrag might help with crashes when loading grids.

It's Bethesda's QA XD They typically take a long time to come up with their games, and I think their games are pretty damn good... but they also seem to tend towards being ridiculously buggy on release.

    Fallout New Vegas, anyone?

Dunno, i cant speak about these problems. I played NV on my xps in sig maxed out at 60fps without a single crash for the whole adventure, even without the patches.
I kept playing it on my desktop rig in sig with all the patches installed completing DLC and other endings as well...no crashes as well.
