I have an Asus G1As with 2gb ram and vista SP 1 and an NviDa 8600m GT.

I orginally had Fallout 3 running on max graphics, but it was choppy, so i moved down two steps on the resolution and killed the Anti-filtering or whatever.

For the 3 days i've owned Fallout 3 it has crashed on me at least 4 times, all of which seem to prompt a response from Nvida which says that somehting stopped working, but it has recovered now.

It seems that it's my graphics card, but whenever i've tried to update it through nvida's site it never works. says it cannot find any existing drivers.

anyone have any insight as to how to fix this problem? it's really annoying me. especailly since i can spend hours playing Fallout without realizing how much time has passed.

You can't update the drivers for laptop videocards through Nvidia's web site. You'll need to look around on the website of your laptop manufacturer for a newer driver. Getting the latest driver available from the manufacturer might not fix the problem, but it is a good place to start.

The "driver has stopped working... etc etc etc" is a know issue with some drivers... Just update your drivers... Go to www.laptopvideo2go.com and download any of the new driver (some ppl having problem with Fallout3 and 180.42 or .43)... Remember to download the modded .inf for the driver...

Also remember to uninstall your old driver, run a driver cleaner, and then install the new driver (with windows restarts between steps)...

Also, Fallout 3 is a buggy game. Save often.

That is Bethesda for you, I won't buy any of their games until they patch it up completely. (which is usually around the price drop) :)

Oblivion was the worst game I've played (coding/technically), the crashes, bugs, screen ripping, sounds cutting out... very annoying.
