So nobody created one yet so I did it![]()
I ve just picked up the game and been testing it. Runs ultra smooth, totally maxed out at 1650x1050 with everything set to ultra high and AA2x. It runs ever better then FarCry2 so I m sure it will also run good on mid-range performance laptops. Well anyway, just wanted to let u know that the game is very well optimized and u can discuss Fallout3 performance here![]()
take it easy guys, I m going to bed for now.

Which one of your godly laptops are you running the game on?
-
NVM, i saw the youtube video.
-
Well the requirements aren't exactly light:
Minimum System Requirements:
Windows XP/Vista
1GB System RAM (XP)/ 2GB System RAM (Vista)
2.4 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 256MB RAM (NVIDIA 6800 or better/ATI X850 or better)
Recommended System Requirements:
Intel Core 2 Duo processor
2 GB System RAM
Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 512MB RAM (NVIDIA 8800 series, ATI 3800 series)
Supported Video Card Chipsets at the Fallout site. -
Yeah, I'm guessing his Sager has SLI 9800m GTX so it makes it seem like the game is a piece of cake to run. Still, 8600m GT and beyond should run the game at least at medium settings.
-
Considering that one of his cards is only giving 4% performance, it looks like the game scales well.
oh, and please define how smooth the game is by posting FPS results, not just saying smooth, cause smooth can be 25+ -
Can anyone please post results from trying the game on an 8600m video card? (preferably with specs similar to my laptop, which is in my sig) I have the 256mb DDR2 one but I can still judge how well mine should perform based on how a different 8600m performs.
-
i want in-game pics before i buy it.
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
- can the game use mods like Oblivion?
-
hey mastamerak how does it run on your 7811fx and also whats the windows score?
-
what kind of settings can i expect to play on with my 8800m gtx?
-
we will have to wait and see
-
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
The OP's post is useless without screens, FPS etc... I have read the latest version of FRAPS will work with Fallout 3. Yes you will take a performance hit but it is better than no numbers at all, like now. Also please specify which laptop(s) you are benching on. Thanks.
-
I'm gonna post a fallout3 video in a bit on my youtube channel so u can take a look at the performance. But u have to give me another half an hour for that
-
Cool, I'll be looking forward to seeing what it's like, and please post some performance info you get on it if you can.
Anyone else get it yet? -
I can tell u now. With GTX in SLI. I run it maxed out!!! I mean theres is no other option to switch higher. 1650x1050 8xAA!!! and 16xAA!!! I get 50-60fps. With 4xAA I get steady 60fps all the time.
-
Oh well, here goes nothing... *buys game*
I really hope it works well enough. -
8xaa is a killer
so i think i'll be super fine with this game
-
-
My computer (the one in my sig) meets all of the MINIMALS and I'm wondering if I should even bother trying it at all.
I ran Oblivion on medium settings and while the game didn't look as good as the 360 version, it still looked good and ran above 20 fps in most parts of the game. But my computer met the recommended requirements for that game.
With this game I just get the feeling that it's going to look and run like a$$. Oh how I weep for my scrwny a$$ machine. That will really suck if the only way that I can play this game is on my xbox 360 (**** thumbsticks!)
Does anybody have any experiences running the game on a minimal machine that they could share with us? -
-
(Time for the Comcast Turtle ad to pop up! ) -
come on
we gotta see this -
i'll be waiting for the results, i'll need 2 more hours of studying before going to sleep
-
-
-
It shouldn't be too intensive with the exception of when you're outside in the open where it has to download a bunch of things I guess.
-
Lol, jus ordered this and Dead Space so heres hoping it'l run nicely
-
Can some one post 8600M GT DDR2 benchmarks running please?
-
wow. youtube is being extra slow today but the video is finally up. Go check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXLcDLAegO4 High Quality Version should be available soon.
-
Downloading should be done in ~4 hours
Anyways, Here's what I'll be benching with...
Model: Dell Inspiron 1520
GPU: Nvidia 8600m GT 256mb DDR2
GPU Driver Version: 179.13
CPU: 2.0Ghz T7300 Core 2 Duo
RAM: 2GB 667Mhz
Overclocking: None
Background Programs Running: Clean Access Agent (required network security software), Steam, ~45 miscellaneous processes from the usual vista processes to all my drivers.
For comparison purposes, I just benched CSS under the same conditions, at 1280x800 all settings maxed including reflections and shadows, no AA no AF, and got 172fps.
P.S. I have the full version of fraps so I'll try to get some decent footage too. I may try a few different video card drivers if someone reports certain drivers working better for the game. -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
any chance i can max it out? WITH:
Q6600
3GB RAM
8800m GTX -
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
-
ArmageddonAsh and when the dude says you cant max it out he means you cant play it 8xaa and 16xaf etc, so i think you dont care about insane AA do you?

Oblivion got mods essentially because it felt incomplete and pale, from the video posted by mastermaker i see the game looks polished.
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
yeah but it will still be nice to have mods to add extra quests and everything to make the game longer
-
maybe so, i wish Fallout 3 will be available at the Local shop, who knows ? xD
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
any idea how long it takes to complete?
i managed to get over 200hours into Oblivion without touching the main quest -
How about on 8400m GS? Anyone?
-
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
-
-
If it does not run awesome on my notebook... I will buy another notebook. Tonight.
Seriously though, after seeing how well Dead Space ran (like delicious butter) I have high hopes for F3. -

Ok, so I was waiting for someone to post how the 8600m GT (ddr3) does, but I just went out and bought Fallout 3 anyway- FWIW, on my Dell 1530 it automatically detects High Settings- I haven't started the game yet, I just thought some people might want to know-
And FYI- in Vista the required rating is 4.3, and the recommended rating is a 4.8...
