For those who've read through the manual/looked at the upcoming perks does anyone else feel as though that all the high level perks are pretty useless?

Looking down the list with the exception of the Lvl 16 Better Criticals perk they all seem well...pretty bad.

I mean building a "normal" character ie one not focussed on melee or unarmed combat.

Man I wish I hadn't spent my first few perks on Swift Learner. Level 20 cap for the lose.

You really seem to be complaining about Fallout 3 quite a bit...

does this really require it's own thread, is it too important to go in the Fallout Gameplay Thread?

The Gameplay thread kind of jumps all over the place but I guess I could have put it there. I really was more interested to see if other people's thoughts on the perks

Possibly, but I did have high expectations of the game as I loved the previous two and the other work that Black Isle has done in the past. I guess I'm just disappointed that they more or less created a game for consoles and then moved it to PC's as an afterthought and the demise of turn-based combat that they could have turned around if they'd developed a decent system for Fallout 3.

Mainly though, it just seems like a proliferation of the general trend that companies are dumbing games down so they can capture a larger market share from the stereotypical Crysis and Halo players. Shoot first, the rest...later.

The turnbased combat system in fallout 1/2 was the only thing I disliked about them. I found it boring, slow and (with quicksave) far too easy...

I gotta say, I LOVE the new combat system, I think it retains enough of the feel of the original (apart from lack of eye/groin shots) while making combat exciting and fluid...

    But that's just me...

If you don't ike it don't play it ;)
