Hi Guys,
Fallout kept crashing (~every 10 min), until I started to play it windowed (1024x768 which is all my vcard can do). So I think the issue might be an incompatibility between the game's resolution and my desktop resolution. Any ideas of how to solve it?
Otherwise, I have been playing it windowed, lowering my desktop resolution (native: 1680x1050) so the game window gets "stretched". The problem is that I see the frame of the window, and other stuff on my regular desktop when I play (ie. icons). Any idea of how to solve it, I mean to make look the window as a full screen?
Thanks.

try some different drivers
-
does it crash at certain places or just randomly? also what type of driver are you using?
-
It crashes randomly. My drivers are updated.
-
your drivers are updated, but which drivers are you using?
-
The updated drivers may be the issue. What GPU/driver combo do you have? You may have to rollback. Also make sure SP1 is installed if it's vista.
-
the 181 drivers have issues with fallout3 i'm not sure about the ones came out after that though
-
I have an old card (x1600) with the omega drivers on it.
-
FO3 used to crash a lot for me until I patched it. Try the official 1.4 patch, might work.

As ryo1000 says the 181.x drivers seem to not like Fallout 3 (or the other way around). When I tried them it either didn't start, crashed ramdomly or was impossible to play because of stuttering even at 1024x768.
On top of this I have also noticed that setting the graphic detail too high (for a specific graphic card) can make it crash on any computer. -
are you using mods?
-
I'm not using mods. Thanks for the advices, I'll try them.
What do you guys mean by 181.x? Are those the last omega version? If so, should I reinstall my old drivers? (Ati didn't updated them anymore). -
The numbers has to do with Nvidia drivers, not ATi. So nevermind.
Good luck. -
It's weird. Most crashes with this game were either driver conflicts or powermizer problems with vista, neither of which I'm guessing affects you with the older ATI part. The only other things are be sure the game is patched as others have mentioned and make sure no other programs are running in the background that don't have to be.
