Bunch of my friends at Bethesda, ZeniMax, Battlecry, and Arkane have been posting this to their social media pages with a lot of wink-wink, nudge-nudge... no, none of them have said "This is Fallout 4"... but come on it's got to be Fallout 4.

And then Bugthesda decides to troll everyone and announce new TES game. Or Rage 2.
Come to think about it, I wouldn't mind Rage 2. I actually quite enjoyed Rage.

Prepare for Day 1 patch. Week 1 patch. Week 2 patch.

Screw it, we suck and can't fix the game. Wait a year for community to release large patches to fix the game.

Take mods and contributions from community and sell them.

And on top of that, multiple DLCs and in game purchases.

    Screw Bethesda.

Yeah, I must spend too much time on this site becuase my first thought was that the graphics are a generation behind. I know these games are more about the gameplay and exploration than graphics, though. Glad my 860m won't have a problem with this!

Coming this winter, Call of... I mean, Fallout 4.
Visually it looks good enough for me. Besides, there's nothing a couple of hundred mods can't fix in a Bugthesda games. As long as it's stable...ish, personally, I'll be fine.
Wonder if these graphics hint that it will be a release in the near future, like this winter. That would make it about two more years before I buy it, after all DLCs and essential mods are made and tested.

This. There will be mods. There will be ENBs. This is the beauty of Bethsoft's games.

I don't usually go for the "play it on release day" because bugs and such. But FO4 is going to be an exception. Because Fallout. And Boston. And... squeee. :)

It has always been like this with Bethesda games.
I personally see nothing wrong with it, as long as platform is stable enough for me to do experiments on it.

Should have set it in Detroit, would be much easier with wasteland development.

I wonder if FO4 will feature series' trademark dark humour (as seen in games developed by Black Isle studios/Obsidian).

Yes, those radiated cockroaches sure can be tasty!

Bethesda's studio is on the east coast and we have the high speed Amtrak line between Boston and DC. Makes scouting Boston pretty easy. And it's much smaller in terms of land area than New York (also on the Amtrak line) which makes for a smaller map to flesh out.

I'm sure it will have that dark humor. It's part of Fallout's atmosphere. I expect that like Fallout 3 it won't be as goofy as Fallout 2 but there may be a perk or setting like Wild Wasteland in New Vegas that brings out some of the absurdity.

Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas, while not visual master pieces of visual rendering technology, have provide hundreds of hours of enjoyable gameplay than say the most amazing graphical game out there (yes glitchy at times but never encountered a showstopper, just some mild humorous ones). Day 1 purchase for me, can't wait to see the E3 gameplay demo.

Indeed. Fallout games are about the settings, the atmosphere, the world spaces. They're games that you can spend hours upon hours wandering around aimlessly just for all of the little bits and secrets they hold.

If you're planning to start fresh then I highly recommend Tale of Two Wastelands. It converts Fallout 3 to run as a ginormous mod for New Vegas.

My biggest issue with Fallout 3 was there were only like 2 or 3 interior building models. Skyrim fixed this from Oblivion, I hope F4 does as well.

Also, I like the 'quality over quantity' approach of quests that Witcher 3 takes. Skyrim technically had more quests, but they were pretty bland.

I agree with all the love as well as all the issues being talked about here.

For me, bottom line, even with all their bumps I have liked every single one of the Elder Scrolls and Fallout games on Bethesda's rap sheet. Day 1 purchase.

FO3 isn't that bad but the interior decor can get repetitive after a while. I still prefer it to New Vegas where it feels like every building is a tin shack. Probably because every building in the game is a tin shack.

    I exaggerate.

The trailer looks like it's the Skyrim engine with some changes like better lighting and shadows. Regardless, Bethsoft did a nice job modeling the city. Most locations are easily recognizable: the Bunker Hill monument, the Paul Revere Memorial in front of the Old North Church, USS Constitution -- which looks like someone is trying (or tried) to turn her into a jet-propelled airship (how cool is that!?), Fenway Park -- complete with Coca-Cola... I mean Nuka Cola sign. There's only one indoor scene in the trailer but it's all completely "new" furnishings, not retreads from FO3 and NV.

A large number of Skyrim's little side quests are kind of bland because they're randomly or semi-randomly generated. The idea was to make it so that two plays through won't be completely identical and in this I think Bethsoft succeeded in their goal. The radiant quest system also succeeds on another level: quests can take you places that you might not otherwise go. They're an opportunity to see and do things in the game that aren't on the beaten path which, again, is a lot of what their open world games are about.

Wonder if the shooting mechanic will still feel very RPG and they will use VATS to cover up for that. I'm guessing it will still be the case.

I must be the only one who thinks this looks rather good (haven't watched on large screen though). What did you all expect, to match Witcher 3 2013 graphics?
Hopefully we'll get a game that actually looks like early gameplay.

I'm quite opposite - I hated repeating DC Metro interiors. And unfortunately that's where you had to spend a considerate amount of time while traveling through Washington. NV didn't have that problem for me, but after playing through FO3 even a couple of years later NV couldn't hook me up like FO3 did, even though I liked story/characters/setting more in NV than in 3.

I wish they would make shooting like in Rage. Man, I loved shooting mechanics in Rage, so fun.
But they still should leave VATS. Watching your char unload from a minigun on a bunch of cockroaches is always fun! Besides, some people like to use it, though mostly because gun-play is broken. NV did somewhat correct that issue, though not entirely...

I think New Vegas has better pieces: better characters, better dialogue, improved mechanics, fewer bugs. Fallout 3 is the better whole package; the sum of Fallout 3's parts is more compelling than New Vegas.

I don't expect VATS to go away. Like SPECIAL, the action point mechanic is part of Fallout's flavor. It wouldn't feel right to me if it were gone. Refinement of the iron sights mechanism would still be welcome since I switch between VATS and manual targeting depending on circumstances. And I would like to see Skyrim's skill progression in the game. I prefer the "improve a skill by using that skill" mechanic.

    With a £50 RRP. Oh goody :(

None of these 2015 games have any excuse when there's Batman Arkham Knight going for £35 RRP. That's a huge ambitious AAA game too.
