Can't really blame it for being like fallout 3 when it's just a standalone expansion of fallout 3...

Though it uses the same engine, Obsidian said they do not consider it an expansion. It is a new story in the fallout universe.

Yeah, but they've already added on expansions to the first ad freakin' nauseum, so I (and I imagine many other fans as well) am getting tired of the same old stuff.

    I loved barebones F3, but I don't like DLC's.

However, Obsidian knows their stuff when it comes to making sequels (NWN2, KOTOR 2), so I'll keep an open mind.

I did love the throwback to the original F3 teaser, though.

I personally loved the DLC, and cannot wait to jump back into another fallout game.

Your assertion that this will be "the same old stuff" doesn't really make sense since we have not seen any gameplay footage yet. Obsidian has a track record of making sequels that stand on their own pretty well.

I didn't say this will be the same old stuff. I said I'll be disappointed if it's the same old stuff ;)

Obsidian has done mostly good stuff, but they've released an errant turd or two (mostly in Storm of Zehir).

I can't wait for some more Fallout goodness!

Though done by Obsidian, I hope they don't get too far away from the style of Fallout 3.

Even though people argued that it was just Oblivion with guns, and that might be the case; but personally I loved Fallout 3 and will probably replay it again soon.

Yeah, I'm cautiosuly optimistic to see what'll be new. I actually loved FO3 initially, but kinda got bored of it after lots and lots of gameplay (no complaint here, it DID provide a lot of playtime!) and didn't actually finish it. (Then again, I'm something of a wanderer, so I was at level cap and had quite a bit of the map explored, and still hadn't completed the main quest lines. Have to go back and finish the main quest one of these days...)

I am looking forward to this. Some of the original Fallout (F1 and F2) crew are working on this. I felt that Fallout's old sarcastic and perfect humor were lacking in F3. I anxiously await to see if this is not the case in Vegas.

Im tired of all of this wasteland type stuff, Fallout 3, borderlands, now that metro game. I never even beat fallout 3 because of how "Boring" it was to me (I beat Oblivion several times through and loved it) Im not going to get this game.

As much as the "post-apocalyptic wasteland" setting may have been beaten to death, the quality of those games is often more to blame than the quantity. However, Fallout did it best. The original Fallout was probably the first to do it right.

So you can't hold it against the Fallout series for being set in post-apocalyptic-land. That would be like hating Elvis because Rock and Roll is stale and "what everyone is doing".

I personally love the style and look of the Fallout series and don't think I could ever get enough. I just hope they include more 50's style music like FO3 had. It really set the atmosphere. I have already pre-ordered New Vegas on Steam.

I didn't like Fallout 3 at all, and I've played the first two games dozens of times. I've given the game enough chances.. I just don't enjoy it. Just don't like the art style, and I felt 3 lacked the same sarcastic, tongue-in-cheek humor of the first two games. As much as I found Fallout 3's world and combat boring, if they can improve the dialogue, I might check this out.

I'm secretly hoping Interplay's Fallout MMO follows the art style and atmosphere of the first two games. It's probably an imaginary game (despite beta being announced) and it'll probably suck, but I'll be optimistic about it.

i loved fallout 3 and will be watching out for new vegas.
with that being said i do understand some comments about it being boring.
unlike bioware rpg's, which i consider the gold standard, you seem to develop very limited relationships in FO3. in bioware games developing this relationship is a big part of the rpg experience for me and at most times it is even essential to completing the game successfuly. not so in FO3 where, for the most part, you are on your own and although it does suit the setting. it does make gameplay a little bit more bland.
also the story in FO3 was interesting and more gritty than the first teo of the series (thus cutting back on the humor and such). however i felt that it took too long to get interesting and the action mainly developed only on the last third of the game. by the end, i was actually wishing that there were more encounters with the enclave.
maybe if they 'correct' some of these it may get more people interested.

I just hope it won't be a cheap console port, they did a good job with fallout 3, but the saboteur sucked . (they are both made by bethesda right?)

Fallout 3 was a decent game to me, though I haven't tried any of the DLC yet. They just really need to invest in better voice acting...within 5 minutes after leaving Vault 101, I had spoken to Lucien Lachance and a Redguard from Oblivion. :p

The trailer/teaser released in the E3 was quite good. I just hope it will not be just (a few) new weapons and (a few) new enemies.
