No joke. Check out the article here.

If it's true, it would be pretty damning.......makes me all the more skeptical of some reviews I read too......

Even if this is true.....WHY?.... Unlike Kane and Lynch, this game doesn't suck. I've been playing it religiously for the last few days and its better than fallout 3 in my opinion. Definitely one of the best open RPGs I've ever played. Not to mention, most publications have already given it a high score. There's always one pissed off reviewer thats going to say it sucks. Bethesda should just let it slide if this is true. There is nothing in existence that everyone likes or thinks is good. Example - Check out the reviews for the godfather on rotten tomatoes. The movie has a 99% approval rating but there was a couple of idiots that thought it sucked.

I don't know which reviews he's reffering to but my guess would be they focused on much of the games buggyness (long load times, game ending crashes, getting stuck on objects...). It did get a 250MB patch pretty quickly but there are still issues like mouse smoothing and such. As far as gameplay/story/fun I think it's a strong game. So like F3 and other massive games these might get worked out over time.

No kidding. Everything I've read from players/reviewers alike suggests it's a good, decent title which makes the allegations all the more baffling.

    Either......

    A) Bethesda banked hard on this and is in desperate need of a hit (which doesn't seem likely)

    B) someone, somewhere up high saw what happened to EA when they released MoH and the negative opinions started spewing forth and was looking to avoid the same kind of semi-chilly reception

    C) Bethesda rushed this thing out the door and was looking to cover-up the existence of any bugs as Thund3rball mentioned

    or
    D) There's a greedy exec somewhere with a budding 'Bobby Kotick' complex who doesn't give a damn about the game, only the $$$$$$$

Barring any of those.......it really doesn't make sense why a developer like this would go to such lengths, esp. after numerous players/reviewers have already chimed in with good opinions.

    perfectionist? i don't know.

i've met some of the developers at Bethesda when they came to my school to talk about CS, and they were a bit uptight on how competitive the arena is for designing games, though all of our professors express that it isn't too difficult. this was a few years ago when FO3 had only been out for a few months, and they were very proud of the accomplishments from FO3 and the complexities that they managed to overcome while making it.

i guess they are 'sore winners' if that makes any sense?

So far from reviews I've read, New Vegas story, voice acting etc. are more compelling that Fallout 3.

But the endless bugs and technical issues makes New Vegas overall not up to par with the first game.
