Hi i just changed my operation system from XP Media Centre to XP Pro and im now having some issues with how the fan on my Gpu is behaving. I did a perfect install and all my original drivers were installed fine.
Originally when using my laptop with XP Media Centre on it. My gpu core temp would always be aiming to keep a core temp of 51 degrees when using the laptop for genaral use...browsing internet etc... The fan would come on and off every few minutes(sudden blasts of air for a few seconds).
Monitoring it from Riva tuner i saw how when the core slowly climbed up to 57-60 degrees, the fan would kick in and not turn off untill the temp went back to 51 degrees.. This would repeat itself consistantly.
Now since i changed operating systems, sometimes the core temp is allowed to go well into the 60's with the laptop just sitting there and the "blast" of air that used to kick in originally for a few seconds dont kick in!
Then when i start a game, the fan goes at full power as usual but when i exit the game the fan permanently stays at full power! For hours!..And the Gpu core temp goes down as low as 39 degrees.
I really preferred when there was some sort of structure to how the fan use to operate and am wondering if there is any utility i can use to set the fan up to preform the way it use to??!!......
Please let me know guys and gals..

Odd that an operating system change would alter your fan behavior; that is controlled from the BIOS.
Did you do the dual-core config yet?

Check your power settings too. It should be on portable/laptop.
On another note, are you using the same video drivers that you previously had installed? Might want to update those. -
I just set up that dual core thing.. Cheers.. But is it true that some games simply wont run on both cores?
I really dont understand why my fan is acting the way it is. And i have the same
Nvidia drivers installed on my laptop. -

Run CPU-Z on your system:

Post a screenshot of that here.
Did you change your power settings to Portable/Laptop in the Control Panel under Power Options? If it is set to Home/Office Desk, then the processor will run at its full clockspeed all the time, explaining the extra heat. -
Yeah my power settings were at Portable/Laptop all the time.. Heres the CPU-z pic..
I couldnt believe when i saw my RAM clocked at 266Mhz!!?? Its 533Mhz Pc4200!? Whats goin on with that??Attached Files:
