Can anyone that has it post their specs and how well they are running it. Steam says you need a 8600 gts to run it good.
Im curious!

I'm still waiting for my copy.

i think this should give you a better performance view than the other sites, which sounded to be a bit low,
http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/farcry_2/2.htm
this one is for lots of GPU benchmarked, Settings very high (physics on med, who cares anyway) resolution is stated, and the game is running with 4xaa, the results are quite impressive, i guess i'll be pulling 45+ FPS with my rig on 1440x900 DX9 very high and 2xaa, since the benchmark is running DX10, and thats the reason i'm impressed really, at last some good DX10 results!

Getting my copy later today. Will post whatever results I get.
-
Same, I'm looking forward to picking it up today after reading all of the great reviews, and I suppose I'll give Ubi a chance with thier DRM since they claim legit buyers will never run into problems related to activation that they won't fix.
Performance looks good so far though, from the looks of it I'll be maxing it out in 1920x1080 on my desktop in DX10 with over 60FPS. Sounds great!can't wait to get it running.
-
royk50 Jeebus., would you please Disable Vsync? anyways, are you using the 180.42 which is supposed to give 30% performance in this game?
-
just finished downloading that 180.42
made a run before applying (178.13)
will repost after driver update
as to vsync it had 0.4 fps impact -
thats great, i love vsync, but its supposed to destroy my performance
, anyway, looking forward to hear from you Royk50, also could you please do me a favor and try DX9? thanks a bunch mate, my copy was supposed to arrive today, but i dunno what happened :S
EDIT: ive noticed you are using DX9 already, nvm for that then -
before i run out and buy this game, im just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how good the multiplayer will be for this game or if this game is a dedicated single player experience. i know ive read a few things on the multiplayer but it hasn't satisfied me that it will hold a strong community of players and be long lasting.
if anyone has read or seen any information in regards to the multiplayers replayability and fun factor please let me know!
thanks -
Single player is roughly 22 hours ( Friend rented for console) Multiplayer is standard.. you know CTF deathmatch and team deathmatch
all i can say is that it has Huge replayability because of choosing charachters, and different factions etc.. -
As far as the 180.42 drivers go, some users have reported no increase to a decrease in performance for single GPU users. I've been well on 177.92.
-
what i'm interested in is that game is much more scalable with SLi than Crysis. but the driver Should give the boost no matter the GPU.. thats weird.
-
Reviews say the MP is pretty standard. I don't know yet personally, but CTF, DM, etc. They say because the map editor is easy to use with a very quick learning curve, people will be churning out maps of great quality pretty fast.
The PC version of the editor is supposed to be more complex, but still retain the ease of use that the console editors have, so there will be new maps every time you play online if you so choose. I'd love to see how this works out, as it could add ALOT to the online replayability if you're always playing a different map. -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
the map editor was poor on far cry 1 on 360, tunnels werent even allowed to be fully underground, 22hours seems a bit short - if i do buy it i hope the replayability is good
-
Crysis was like 5 hours and you guys where like O.m.g
-
Yeah I agree that guy Louis Pierre or whatever his name is, was saying of atleast 50 hrs gameplay in single player. Guess nowadays even developers lie to spice up the game.
-
hopefully I m gonna pick up my copy in an hour and get some tests done before work
-
I'm gonna pick this up today, Circuit City gives you a free download of FarCry 1 with purchase of Far Cry 2 this week.
-
really looking forward to hear from you guys
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
-
Yeah and after the game was released even that 50 hrs gameplay line was deleted from Wikipedia. I can tell you it was there since the article was first written.
-
Sandbox games that has side quests , factions, etc, may vary from player to another, some want full rep with thier faction, some want to get best weapons, others want to do side quests..
-
Should people with 8600m GTs even bother? From the web-site link i was able to discover that the 9600m GT with 512mb was able to do almost 40 fps in 1280x1024. To my understanding the 8600m GT should then proabbly do about 30fps at the same setting?
-
if yours is DDR3, i believe you can do 30FPS native res on high. *thats just my opinion* the game is supposed to be very playable with a desktop 8600GTS (since its the recommended setting) so i think you're fine
-
the 180.42 borked my 3d i get nothing but black screen on farcry2
furmark is not turning
will fix this soon... -
I do have DDR3 256mb and a load of shared mem (useless). But my native res is 720p... i dont know if i can run FarCry2 at that res on high... Crysis ran at about 20-25fps at 1280x1024 on med settings... MOH:Airborne does 30 at the same settings as well as BioShock... (but thats UT3 engine)
-
hmm ive just read that this driver has problems with Vista running DX9 the Blackscreen is nothing to worry about, its a driver issue mate, my bad, i havent read that you're on vista
-
not worried at all
just need to roll back
you were right the dx10 works, cant keep this though. -
hey has any one actually tested this on a 8600MGT DDR2 version?.. would be glad to have some feed back, before buying
-
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
-
so i run few more times on dx 10 and my best result is with vsync on
btw b4 it was a dx9 runAttached Files:
-
-
still with the older driver? you should be 40+ if you get the driver to work
. anyways, how smooth is the game? 30 FPs was supposed to be smooth in Crysis
-
back to old driver, dx10 dropped 1.4 fps
game is very smooth -
20-25 hours is NOT short for an FPS.
-
So i went to gamestop but they didnt have it yet. I need to come back later. sucks but hopefully I can give u guys some impressions today and tell u how it performs.

Newegg STILL has not shipped my copy.
-
How would this run on a Radeon HD2600?
-
It runs okay on my rig. No way I'll be able to play it @ 1440x900 though. But it's playable at 1280x800.
I'll buy it for 360; I like it to play more optimized than my notebook offers me. -
xystus what settings are you using
-
Far Cry 2 runs very well on my 8600M GT (512 DDR2), 505 Core clock, 1425 Shader Clock and 450 Memory Clock. (1.5Ghz C2D, 3Gb DDR2)
-
did you try running it also on dx9?
-
what resolution and settings is everyone using??
-
klok:99ah, I tested both DX9 and 10, almost no difference in FPS, the resolution was 1280x800
-
high, medium, fps?
-
-
on your 8600m gt? you are getting 40 fps, where most stuff is high to medium?
can you post a screenshot so i can see what it looks like... use fraps! -
-
EDIT: It should be noted though that Crysis looks better then Far Cry 2 so far, I've yet to tackle the "Ultra High" levels of graphics and check the FPS. -
post some screenshots
