    Thought I would do some benchmarks on my M1730 for FarCry2 using DirectX 9.0

    System used:

    T9300 (2.5Ghz)
    4GB Ram
    8800m GTX SLI

    Benchmarked used :
    Run 1 looped 3 x

    It consists of using Optimal & Ultra settings @ res 1680x1050 & 1900x1200.

    As you can see the results are quite nice :)

    I am currently using 1680x1050 with Ultra Setting (even though I cant tell much differnce between this and optimal)

    I am currently using 179.13 drivers.

    Hey,

    Do you know how much of a difference there is between the 8700 + 8800 GeForce ? I got the 8700 due to the price difference. Just curious.

    1 8800 M GTX is better than SLI 8700M GTs..
    Currently, the 8800M GTX is the third best laptop setup ,after the ati crossfire 3870 and 9800M GTX SLI...

    brainer,

    I think the game will run sweet on yours mate, the game still looks nice in low settings.

    With your spec I reckon you'll get its running 1440x900 on med/high settings.
    When i get chance I'll post a pic with it at 1440x900, med, on mine for a image comparison

    You should be able to run it at this if people with a 8600gt are running it at high/v.high

    Have a look :

    Heres results of mine brainer,

    With SLI enabled & disabled. Hopefully that might give you a slight comparison on how effective it might be on your machine.

    I ran the Ranch (small) benchmark again with my default settings (see below)

    As you can see from the results SLI enabled yeilded a increase of 16.14fps increase. which is about a 68% increase.

    Hopefully yours will be about the same increase mate :)

    Regards Jim

    for sure, i'm aware that the second card isnt giving its full potential right now, just like when SLI 7950GTXs came out, till now, performance still improves with every driver coming out.

    Yeah your right mate,

    I am hoping tweaked 180 series will yield an even better increase with FC2. Think I'll wait a little till they release a more stable version. I am a big fan of tweakforce drivers but I think it will be a while before 180s show up on there.

    I was using 177.92 from there but gave me problems with Magnus72's Crysis tweak.
    Tempted to go back to those seens as I'm not playing Crysis anymore

    Sorry,

    I was unsure if you meant Tweakforce we releasing a new tweaked driver. (Old yet new if you know what I mean.)
    Theres already a 180.42 & 180.43 then there be a 180.49 then a FC2 1.005 patch then XG 180.42 :)

    The 180.43 were no good for me. this data is based on the built in benchmark. all very high dx10 @ 1920x1200

    I actually lost 7fps on average , when

    180.42 gave me a

    max = 80.74fps
    min =35.09 fps
    average = 50.00fps

    and

    180.43

    Max = 76.19fps
    min = 32.19fps
    average = 43.17fps

    so its back to 180.42 for me :cool:

    I decided to run the same benchmark as you, Albert666 with my drivers i've got installed 179.13.

    I ran 3 different tests

    1. Vista 32bit, DX10, V High, @ 1900x1200

    2. Vista 32bit, DX10, V High, @ 1900x1200 aftering running smart close & overclocking GPU to 560/860/1510.

    3. Vista 32bit, DX9, V High, 1900x1200 aftering running smart close & overclocking GPU to 560/860/1510

    As you can see theres a 10fps increase between settings 1 & 3

    Still not as good as yours mate :)

    Looks like it mate,

    Be interesting to find out what difference optimized drivers will make.

    I know its only a benchmark but to have a average fps of 41.81 @1900x1200, DX10, and V High settings just shows how an optimized game can perform, and like you said before, SLI is slowing becoming a wothwhile investment.

    Have you got the game brainer? Would be interested to find how your system performs.

    Hi all if you are using a laptopvideo 2 go or tweakforce drivers with an sli laptop, like me you may be experiencing problems with an external display.

    I have modded some drivers based on the laptopvideo2go and tweakforce xp 32 bit 180.42 drivers that have support for external displays, the link is in the xps 1730 owners lounge.

    You probably only need to use them if your using an external display, if not keep doing what your doing!!

    hey.
    i just got an XPS with the same specs as the OP. question - im kinda confused about which driver to use, i got the one from the nvidia website but that dropped the fps. plus, far cry 2 says i should update my video card drivers.
    which one works best?
    thanks.
