Far Cry 3 Confirmed

Looks like another sequel of my favorioute game is confirmed. I must say, I was in love with the graphics and realism rather than the repeating gameplay.
The game is set to African zone again.
"There are still things we want to do with the African setting, and I think it’s safe to say we’ll continue to explore it," said Far Cry 2 narrative designer Patrick Redding.

"That said, we might find something new and compelling about the

Ya I know. I didn't saw a thread about it. Anyway I think it will be releasing Q4,2010.

I hope they learned their lesson from Far Cry 2 because that was absolute crap.

 

yeah, travelling took so much time that i got fedup unless i was going in jeeps...

 

definitely. i got bored of the game before i could finish it because of the traveling. at first i thought the travlling was pretty cool but then it just got boring.

I have the cash ready if I were to lose, but unfortunately it's impossible for FC3 to be released in the next 9 months.

 

Absolutely, I don't know if I even want to finish it, I would just be wasting my time that I could use to play better games. Its the black sheep on my PC game shelf, I want to throw it away, and I only played it for about 4 hours.

Anybody know why did Crytek lose the franchise to the publisher Ubisoft by the way? So then Ubisoft completely ruins the franchise by the mediocre spin-off games on the Xbox and 360 and then makes a sequel that isn't remotely connected to Far Cry, they just slapped the name on to get some suckers to buy it I suppose. What an insult when the first game was so great!

Same goes for BlackIsle/Interplay losing the Fallout franchise to Bethesda, Fallout 3 pales in comparison to the first two games but it isn't as bad as Far Cry 2. I am excited for Fallout: New Vegas as its being made by some of the developers behind the first two games.

And I want to see a true sequel to the first game, see more of the hilarious and corny Jack Carver and the mercenaries, Project Far Cry (what the game is named after, HELLO!!!), the Trigens, etc. But its gone forever and I hope Crysis 2 will be good as well, not dumbed down with it being on consoles now.

Doesn't matter if you said you think or it will. Even the IDEA of it shows you lack the basic knowledge of game time releases and general things in gaming world.

 

How come you are so sure about it then that it will not on Q4? Most of the awaited games duly release on last quarter of year.

FC2 to me is a great game, albeit very GTAish. I just finished playing yesterday for the 2nd time, it's a tad great in my opinion but could've been better. Therefore for the poll, I agree that story and game play can be improved. The driving part; I think that's what the developers want us to feel the likes of Africa. At least the environment is pretty good to feast your eyes upon.

 

So that makes two people who liked the game. Spradhan01 and I

I thought it was amazing. Given a mod or two on damage and realism were needed, otherwise I didn't mind it.

Maybe more weapons, selectable fire modes and a more Blood Diamond-like feel?

 

I loved Far Cry 2.

ill probably wait till it hits 20 bucks like i did with far cry 2. i think they should change the gameplay and the graphics a little (i was not at all impressed with the character models, and it was far too dull colors)

I dont understand why people(Aku..) have such ego that they think they only know everything and rest sucks. Im serious, Akuma was my fav.character in SF4 and now Im hating it and Im really having fun beating his as.s with Ken.

 

One more here who still likes Far Cry 2, the game has awesome graphics and comes in 2nd below Crysis in best graphics of all time

 

Far Cry 2 was alright but I couldn't finish it because I got motion sickness after 2 hours every time. NTM I ended up running zebras over more than I completed missions.

 

Oh come on, Fallout 3 was a very good game. In fact - I believe they could not have made it better.
I mean, Fallout 1 and 2 are years old. Of course you would see some changes.
- I think bethesda did a pretty good job on fallout 3. Probably better than Interplay could have done Imo.

 

FC2 was a fun game, it had a lot of variety and many many different approaches you could take to any given situation. Plus a ton of weapons.

The only thing that really got me in that game, and why I never got around to finishing it was how FRUSTRATING it was to be continuously run down by completely silent jeeps out of no where! I swear I could be in the middle of a swamp, and blam! run over by a random stalker jeep from behind and killed instantly. It's pretty rare for me to survive most chases as well, if your getting chased by another jeep with an MG gunner behind you, you either keep driving and try to get away (IMPOSSIBLE since they drive like 3x faster than you), or you can try getting out to kill them, which will end up in you being run over before your even halfway out of the vehicle.

That's really the only problem I had with the game though, but after dying by AI in jeeps probably 20 times per hour, I got fed up with it.

 

I'll consider getting it if Ubisoft decides not to use DRM.

 

I agree with the silent jeeps. Though depending on what car I drove I either jumped out and killed the drivers of the enemy jeep or just used the machine gun on my jeep if I had any. I rarely got run over since I always take cover behind my own veichle so they hit that instead of me I like how you can approach each mission

 

it supports an xbox 360 controller natively

I really wasn't aware of that....But I'll be looking forward to have better gameplay, story and a hell lot of a weapon

 

Another here who liked FarCry 2, and here's why:

The weapons. Plain and simple, the weapons in FC2 make the game. They make it fun to kill baddies, which is a good thing, because that's what the game is all about. They feel good to shoot, the sound effects are generally superb (with a few stumbles), the baddies react to being shot more than any other FPS I know, and there are *so many* weapons to choose from. Several pistols, not just one or two, a few different shotguns and sniper rifles, a dart rifle, two rocket launchers, two grenade launchers, a flare pistol (one of my favorites), silenced options (which are actually silent!) and lots of generic run-and-gun machines (although even most of these feel good to shoot).

In several ways, it's better than Crysis: hunting enemies is more reminiscent of stalking mercenaries as Jack Carver than Crysis was with picking off Koreans (although I wish FC2 baddies didn't have such good eyes). Crysis only had about five guns to choose from, only two or three that you would actually use on a consistent basis against Koreans. And Far Cry 2 didn't have aliens that were boring to fight, or super-baddies that could take a million hits, or a boring boss fight at the end which is a race to see how quickly you can run out of ammo.

I recognize the flaws of FC2, like traveling and a mostly crap storyline. I just wish all the things it implemented well could be available in another more cohesive, maybe more linear shooter.

 

Also get ready for little or no graphical improvement for us PC games as this game is going to be on the 360 again and we all know what that means.
