Not trolling or being facetious here, but after seeing the ridiculous amount of issues with FC4 at launch I shelved the game and never bothered. Now 6 months and NINE patches later (we're up to patch 1.9 yes?), is the game finally playable?*
*defined as no random crashes, stutters, game-breaking glitches, texture pop-ins, mouse acceleration issues, SLI flickering/dark shadows issue
I know if I google enough I can find every tiny little issue with every different setup, but I get the feeling a lot of that is due to PEBCAK as well.

I never got past the bit at the beginning where the Jeep crashes and you walk around hardly being able to see, and then you get ventilated by the baddies.
John. -
I don't know its SLI stability but I have GTX 870M and finished the game with 1.4 patch. The only problem I encountered was black glitches on trees that once appears then disappears but I managed to resolve it by installing 344.75 Nvidia driver.
-
ive never had a issue since release.
yes the bit when the jeep crashes its a biatch to get past the baddies with limited weapons but once past i had no issues.
ive not played the multiplayer so cant comment on that. -
It was a pain in the backside for me, crashes, freezes and others. At some point I was not able to take pictures anymore, which is huge problem for one mission (HAVE to take pic of dead baddie). Dropped game like a rock once GTA V was available.
-
were u on 980m sli?
-
It runs like crud in SLI...Ubisoft and all..It was unplayable for me with 980m SLI. On a single 980 (desktop) things are much better
-
Not to hijack or anything but when I read the title I instantly thought Watchdogs - has the stutter been fixed yet after the infinity patch releases?
-
Latest patch (v1.06 I think) made the game run wonderful on single cards because it finally fixed the streaming issue which was causing stutters. But SLI scaling is now completely garbage, like 20% or below.
-
Yes, then went to single GPU, changed drivers etc., etc. Nothing, but headaches. I will go back to it at some point-after all i shelled out good money for it.
-
Yeah jesus, that kind of power should crush that game. Especially with the cpu in ur signature.
-
FC4 and AC Unity were massive fails even by Ubifail's standards... They fixed watchdogs when I played it over July however these games still have many problems even after they were released in October and patched multiple times..
-
They do have such a terrible track record it isn't that surprising.
-
This is why I won't be rushing to get The Divison. Already delayed till January 2016
-
I fell for the WatchDogs hype... worst... hype... ever!
-
It's ok, not only did I fall for the Watch Dogs hype, I bought the DedSec edition, which is like the most expensive special edition of Watch Dogs you could buy. Sadder still I had to buy from Amazon UK since it only retails in the EU region I believe.

I know, it actually looks really good too. Shame.
-
But that's how these makers get us. They show little snippets of the game play, get us hooked and when the game is launched all we get are freezes, black screens and patches.
-
We should make a list of the last few "good developers".
-
I'm going to go off the record and say although ubisoft games suck when they are released over time they do start performing much better
-
Years later though. They are scum when it comes to SLI.
-
You poor sap. I feel it for you, paying Ubisoft money.
That's because you were on single GPU. As n=1 said, multi-adapter scaling actually got completely broken after the patch. That, or he's CPU limited, and with how he's abusing that 4930K he has, I doubt he's CPU limited
They do, but it's a too-little-too-late kind of ordeal, and it does not excuse them for their poor releases in the first place. People should flat out stop buying their games (at least their big titles; smaller ones like Transistor seem to be fine) and if somebody like Totalbiscuit reviews it and yells at them for performance/stability/etc issues, we just wait. Wait and wait and wait and when it's on sale for under $20 we buy... and when Ubisoft finally realizes that we're just not having any of their excrement, they'll actually make the games work at launch! Or, y'know, sell only to the consoles and lose huge percentages of their market share. Or go bankrupt. Or kill all their titles for "not making money" and we'll get fresh titles in.
Any which way it seems like a good idea to me =D. -
See the problem with Ubisoft is that if we stopped buying their games, they'll simply default to their "MUST BE PIRATES" victim mentality, and not ever realize it's them that needs to steup up their game (pun intended) and stop releasing broken unplayable crap that takes 6 months minimum to fix.

Well, that's all well and good for them, but if the money starts flowing in the minute they get under $20, they can't ignore that and say "must be pirates". Like I said, they can't axe their PC share of the market, because it brings them well over 1/5 of their revenue.
-
LOL you sure about that? Last I checked, PC sales accounted for less than 10%.
http://www.dsogaming.com/news/ubiso...-at-only-9-most-major-consoles-surpassing-it/ -
Huh... saw somewhere else where PC was a large portion of their sales. But with AC:U and FC4... I don't see why anyone would have bothered giving them money on PC the last quarter XD
-
Ouch... How much did you pay?
Well at least Watchdogs worked perfectly for me.. I was on almost max settings with an AMD 7970M.. -
I paid £70.83 according to Amazon UK. Actually not as bad as I thought, because I could've sworn it was over £100.
-
It's life, stuff happens and you make bad decisions.
Though nowhere near as bad as that time I blew over 5K on sports equipment on a sport that I quit playing after 4 months, and almost put myself in credit card debt. Still miffed about it to this day but it was a good wakeup call.TomJGX and Mr Najsman like this. -
Lemme guess. Road cycling. Or golf.
-
Just booting this up now...
-
Wow what a difference. Legit copy via UPlay and stutter is gone for me.
Make sure you alt+tab and then use task manager to
1. Make FC4 High Priority
2. Set affinity ONLY to actual cores, i.e. 0, 2, 4, 6
Both help to reduce the stutter
Really enjoying it -
lol I wish. Let's just say it was a racket sport and leave it at that.
-
BADMINTON.
LACROSSE.
It can't be tennis -
Wut I don't even. How in the world do you spend 5 grand on a racquet sport? Nvm don't answer that.
-
That's the same as disabling Hyper-Threading
-
Not exactly. It frees up the hyperthreads for other system processes, so you don't waste CPU power.
-
I assumed he doesn't have a bunch of junk running in the background while playing like you do
-
Even if he doesn't.. steam, uplay, audio drivers, overlays/recording programs, music, etc. Most of those are considered basic to many people.
I however am a true multitasker. I'm using 8GB of RAM and I'm not even playing anything right now XD. -
I usually have a bunch of stuff running too but everything gets shut off as soon as I fire up a game. Not sure if it's OCD, or old habits die hard from the days when computers weren't so fast.

QUIDDITCH
And by racket I meant magical flying broomsticks
Well according to my old records, apparently at some point I became more interested in collecting sports equipment than actually playing the sport lolocticeps, TomJGX, Mr Najsman and 1 other person like this. -
Not really. It actualy spreads the load as it only uses one core if you have them all selected
Before
Method
1. Start FC4
2. When in game, press Esc and then ALT+TAB
3. CTRL+ALT+DELETE
4. Find FC4 and then click 'Go to details'
5. Right click FC4.exe and click Affinity
6. Choose only four actual cores and test
After
I really noticed the load spread from this
to this
Next step is to test with MipMap = 0
Shots were done back in Nov last year when I had my 5930k+2x980s rig but still work now -

Racketeering? Gun, golden chain, leather jacket, brass knucles, car mods - yeah, I can see how you could have spent 5 grand on equipment.
OCD gamer camp represent! -
Old habits die so hard.
BUUUUUUT when I had 6GB of RAM on my D900F I used to keep everything running and then game. I think I once alt-tabbed from GTA IV and *FORGOT* and then started playing Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. And I didn't even run into any problems with performance or anything.
Good times...
Anyway, that's pretty much why 8GB of RAM is barely enough for browsing for me, far less gaming =D. -
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
I on the other hand successfully run GTA V and AutoCAD at the same time with 8GBs of RAM
.
-
I normally use 8GB of RAM just by having chrome open.
I have used up to 12GB while playing GTA V and having everything else open. -

Well, there's your problem, right there.
Dude, whatever you do with your OS... -
Listen, there are GOOD REASONS why I need a 4940MX, a second power brick and two 980Ms okay.

Too much money? Shut up desktop owners? Run Far Cry 4? All of the above?
Far Cry 4 - is it playable yet?
