Doubt it, unfortunately.
FEAR isn't published by Ubisoft anyways.

You guys seem far to sure the Ubisoft will not make multi player available to those who downloaded the newly released free version.
Remember, this is a weekend and I am sure Ubisoft will work out the kinks for the free version of Far Cry, so maybe on Tuesday or Wednesday we will be able to play multi player.
They will probably email CD KEYS for multi player. -
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
The game crashes to the desktop on after I click the icon and see the Far Cry screen.
-
It's probably just something they overlooked - there's no reason not to allow online multiplayer. In fact, it's to their advantage - if it extends the longevity of the game, then that's more time that I have to stare at McDonald's advertisements, which I'm sure they certainly want.
-
if anyone can get some kind of confirmation about graw and far cry being multiplayer on these free full games please post - i would love to see more people playing far cry multiplayer - it is soooo good
-
I just finished downloading farcry from gamershell.com after 5 hours. I'll install it and let you guys know because i'm hearing contradicting arguments. First there was that one poster who said that multiplayer was included and it was great then there's that other person who says no it isnt.
-
Nope, no multiplayer. It lets you play LAN though. When you hit online multiplayer it asks for your ubi.com username and password. After that is asks you for a cd key.

I keep getting CTD's with this on my desktop PC. I have the original version on CD and never had that problem. Wonder what the issue could be?
-
-
Anyone else having problems with this game? I'm playing campaign mode and when I switch to another are, after it finishes loading, I get a black screen and nothing happens. This happens after I load a save or I move on to another area? Anyone know how to fix this?
CTD??? -
lol, on my desktop with a 8600 GT.. the animations are all screwed up.. Nothing works as advertised, IE when I press W, I step like 6 steps instead of 1 and all the syncs are all messed up? What could be the problem?
-
Concesus: Free Far Cry is FUBAR.
LOL. Good free three year old game that runs fine with purchased version, but free one does not. Must be a conspiracy. I'll just stick with my 5 CD version (why there was never a single DVD version I'll never know). -
works fine for me...btw those friggin mcdonalds ads get annoying as hell after a while cause its the same one over and over....i hate mcdonalds now...
-
AHAHAHA! I hate McDonalds too! Everytime you die(And you randomly die alot, mostly hidden enemy kills) you have to reload your previous save and you have to go through that bloddy McDonalds ad! After that ad is dont the load bar ZIPS instantly. These ads are holding back this game's load times.
-
I still get CTD's, however running FRAPS seems to kill the ads... lol.
Someone else give it a try and see what happens? -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
The game went haywire a bunch of times. Uninstalled it.
-
LOL. One thing's for sure, FRAPS does eliminate the in-game ads, and I closed down my virus checker (AVG) and so far no crashes.
Thanks FRAPS! -
No matter - I'm enjoying the game for free (although the game itself hella hard, even on easy.)
-
well..
i am confused. i got the part i can get farcry for free but how do i get it?
i clicked on the site but yeah... also can you give me some points for playing farcry?? sry about that but i want to know before jumping into "new" games -
You register for a www.ubi.com account, download the installer from somewhere, and install FarCry (ad-supported) with your www.ubi.com login.
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
I downloaded it again off Gamershell and installed it, works great now, doesn't CTD anymore.
The ads are a bit annoying, but hey its free.
I wish we could play online though... -
I wish the ads were changed once in a while. Seeing the same "Menuaire" advertisements gets old, fast.
-
Fraps kills the ads. Just run it with the game.
I've been playing Rayman, lol. -
ShadowoftheSun Notebook Consultant
Haha, Rayman... Is that any good? It was decent for laughs with my friend's Wii, but we never hit it up for single player and just seemed too juvenile to hold my attention for long.
-
Best way to remove ads is to install the "K9 vision mod" or something like that. Since it takes out the original FarCry menues and replaces them with its own, the ads dissappear! The mod also makes the AI stronger, the sounds better, and improves the textures of weapons and soldiers. All around the best idea if you want to get rid of that McDonalds crap. Google it and download it, I did and I must say it is working amazingly!
OR heres a link to the mod on the filefront site:

The ads are really screwy. Sometimes I can get rid of them but I lose my sound too. Other times, I get rid of them and still have sound. It has something to do with clicking on them. -

I bought Farcry when it was new but was never able to enjoy it because I had an FX-5200. After seeing this post I found the cds and installed it on my computer but I'm having driver issues. Whenever i go outside of the cave at the beginning of the game the sand is blue and some other stuff isn't drawn right. So I was wondering what driver you recommend. Right now I've tried 101.70 and 101.41, i think.

I'm downloading this game as we speak. This is sweet- I was planning on buying this game, but hey this saves me alot of trouble.
This is an exciting ramp-up time for Crysis- first they re-release Far Cry free so that everyone remembers what a sweet game it was, then they release the Crysis demo in a few months time to further up the anticipation... Its a win-win for consumers and Crytek alike. -

Indeed, everyone at my school is anticipating Crysis. Unfortunately, most of their computers can't handle the game. They assure me their intergrated graphics can play it, I just say ok and lol.

Yeah, I am having the texture problems as well.

Ok I downloaded and installed the cumulative 1.40 patch and disabled anti-aliasing. Now the game is running perfect with driver 101.41 (not even sure where I d/l this driver? it was on my hardrive though). I'm not sure if it was the patch or disabling AA that did it. I'll run some benchamarks and tweak the settings and try and figure out why its working now.
-
Peter Bazooka Notebook Evangelist
Update: Ok it was definitely the patch that fixed the rendering problems for me because i just enabled 2xAA and its still running fine. If you d/l the free version that is already patched, isn't it?, I don't know what to say.
-
-
I installed the game, thinking that it was pre patched, but i came to find that it was not, so i downloaded the patch and it runs fine.

also, isn't this game like 2 years old? why is it killing my desktop? I get about 20-30 fps outside and when I use the binoculars I get like 8 fps wtf, and thats with the XP 163.44 drivers.
at least it looks great at 1920x1200 with most things maxed -
well you're playing at 1920x1200 for one...
-
wtf my download just froze at 91%
FRUSTRATION -
does anyone know if they are going to fix the multiplayer?
-
That's really strange... try turning Vsync off if it's not already (although that would limit your FPS to 60...). Was XP installed while you had your 8800 GTX, or have you upgraded recently? Sometimes when you put in a new video card it will mess things up and you have to do a clean install (this is more common when switching ATI -> Nvidia or vice versa). Otherwise... I really don't know what to tell you, except that you should look into it, because there's certainly something wrong. -
why the hell does my download keep freezing
-
Internet Explorer cannot download files bigger than 2GB. You have to use Firefox. If it stops for a bit dont worry, it'll keep on going in a bit (if you use firefox)
Far Cry etc for Free!
