exactly the same spec as me and mine runs fine.
what settings have you got the game set to. default with some ultra some high and some off or have you set it to all ultra.

also what drivers have you got loaded. im still running 310.54 which was released especially for blops2 but its doing fine for me so i havnt updated as there are 3 more betas released in the last 3 weeks > NVIDIA Driver Downloads - Advanced Search (make sure drop down box is set to notebook and 64bit)

I am in same boat as umkc since patch 1.02 :( spent 3 hours reflashing different voltages on the vbios, fiddling with cpu clock speeds and the latest driver. All to no avail! 76C max temp lol

    You are not alone mate!

The stutter is probably driver related. Do a clean install of an updated version and play with the in-game settings to see if a software bug.

    just some more additional info:

i tested this game on 306.97, 310.64 and 310.70 - stutter is always there

also tested with patch 1.01v and 1.02 ---- 1.02 is even worse than 1.01

some people on the internet say that running the game in DX 9 removes the stutter - Not for me, i tried running in DX 9 - lowest setting possible, i still have stutter

i am majorly frustrated right now...is there something wrong with my GFX card? should i run any tests? please help!

yup, follow the walkthrough in my signature below.
a lot of people now say using driver cleaner/sweeper in safe mode makes no difference but ive used it for years and never had a problem.

you could also run 3dmark11 and vantage in monitoring sig below and compare them to other owners in benchmark results also below (blimey ive got a lot in my signature) :D

Same issue here :( stutter in almost every driver set in Far cry 3. I'm now at 310.70. Probably some issue with the game.
Edit: Did a quick test with far cry 3 set to Maximum performance in nvidia control panel and the game stutters less, if i put everything to low in game options it plays realy smooth with no stutter at all. I play the game in ultra, no MSAA and SSAO so it stutters a bit. Try puting to maximum performance in the energy thing umkc

Interesting, make sure you are using the newest beta drivers. They had lots of fixes for Far Cry 3. Also, make sure you have the newest patch.

My 680m got defaulted to Ultra settings, I use adaptive vsync so frame drops aren't really noticeable but I can tell a lot of the time it is locked at 60. Amazing game.

It could well be DRM related too. I remember I had stutter disappear in a game after the Devs removed it. It could be anything but if all other games are fine then I guess that says it all.

The post process and the foilage AA have a big performance cost as well. You might want to try disabling those two.

YodaGoneMad do you have adaptive vsync present in your nvidia control panel? Or are you forcing it via other aplication? Because it's missing in the latest drivers :/

It is present in the control panel in 310.64 which is what I am using right now. It did disappear for a while but it showed back up maybe a month or two ago. I used it for Assassins Creed 3 as well.

Okay, wait a minute. Are you guys talking about actual micro-stuttering, or low framerate do to GPU bottlenecking?

Not one person has given their fps count, so it's hard to know whether there's actually an issue, or you guys just have the settings higher than the GTX 680M can handle fluidly.

i am talking about mico-stuttering similar to Fallout 3. i can live with low frame rate, but stuttering is a major distraction.

The 680m can handle Ultra with HBAO and Extended alpha coverage at an average of around 50 FPS with no major FPS drops for me. Lowest I have seen was 40 in one section. I am not using MSAA but everything else is max.

so everyone with 680M laptops are able to run this game without stuttering issues? even when fps falls below 60?

this is what i discovered yesterday. i originally posted this in "Far cry 3 discussions topic":

"i think i found the issue... at least for nvidia cards..i don't see any stuttering when the game runs at 60fps or the refresh rate of you monitor... unfortunately it is not possible to run this game at 60 all the time.

there is a option in nvidia inspector to set the vsync to 1/2 the refresh rate, but that doesn't work in the game.it just runs without vsync.

i tried locking the frames to 45 with vsync ON...stuttering is still there. without the fps limit stuttering is almost gone when it runs at 60. When it falls below 60, stuttering comes back again...what a lame game engine!

Also, FXAA works through inspector, MSAA doesn't...What gives?

i guess i have to run the game at lowest settings..lame!"

guys try try the stock 302.77 drivers with adaptive vsync and triple buffering enabled in the nvidia control panel. with this driver I get the full 60 frames ALL the time also in towns and villages where frames would previously drop into the low 30s

All settings are on Ultra with 2xAA/NoAA

Wait a minute... we have to revert to stock drivers to eliminate micro-stuttering on a recently released title?? How does that work?

No, it does not eliminate stutter. However, it gives me better performance. I can keep my framerate at 60 90% of the time. Anything below 60 stutters for me, so it helped me in my case

Microstuttering? Could it be a DX11 issue? Batman Arkham City has this with DX11 very prominently. Performance semi plummets at some intervals. It works just fine in DX9.

Do any of you experience low GPU utilization/usage in Far Cry 3 on your 680m? Every other game runs fine, but in FC3 certain areas (even standing still doing nothing) will drop the frame rate into the 40s and MSI Afterburner shows GPU usage is low, 40-70%. CPU isn't under a great deal of load so I don't think it is bottlenecking, and changing video settings between low/high/ultra and turning MSAA on/off etc has no affect really. Neither does changing between DX11 and DX9
I don't experience any stuttering though, even at low frames it is smooth.
I've tried lots of different drivers (302.77 up to 310.70), vsync on/off/adaptive etc etc.
Strange because other games such as BF3, my GPU usage is always 95%+. Any suggestions? :)

Yeah had that aswell, but luckily the 302.77 drivers fixed that for me. Try enabling triple buffering. also even though I got constant 60 frames throughout the island wilderness It still dropped in places like badtown and hoyts fort.... on dx 11 ultra that is, dx9 also made no difference.

Utilization was bad for me aswell but I had vsync on so that explains it

GPU utilisation solved in 680m in Far Cry 3
I dit not patch the game.
    Geforce drivers 314.07
When I overclockt only the memory of 680m, gpu utilistion got even wors.
When I downclockt memory - 500 mhz (Msi afterburner) , gpu utilsation got stable, above 90 %.
No more framerate drops anymore. Framerate sable 30 - 50 everything max out! Ultra settings.
Somehow the memory en de Gpu are out of sink!
    It works for me!
    Hope it helps!
