Haven't seen a topic about this so thought I would start one.

I loved Far Cry 3 and still play it today. Needless to say Iam excited to play the new one.

What are people's thoughts? Could be another really fun game!

There is a trailer out there so be sure to check it out. Nothing like an elephant ramming an enemy truck making it explode lmao.

Yeh Far Cry 3 was good but I'm not looking forward to it anywhere near as much as GTA V, Witcher 3 and Dragon Age Inquisition (assuming its absolutely nothing like DA II which was truly awful).

Its suppose to be based in Tibet or some mountain kingdom? I definitely liked the glider in FC3, that was great and a lot of fun. I used to love gliding up to outposts, straight into a good vantage spot.
Some kind of b-liner, traverser or batman style grappling gun would be a great addition for FC4.

FC3 was a good game, though I'm not overly excited for FC4. I'll definitely be playing it at some point.

Same here. I liked FC3 very much, completed it two times, so at this point I had enough of FC. I will definitely play FC4, but at some very distant point. I doubt Ubisoft gonna drastically overhaul the gameplay mechanics, enough for me to have a lot of interest in it.
However, I am waiting for a Blood Dragon sequel.

I installed Far Cry 3 about 6 months ago but never got around to playing it. :sosad:

Would definitely love a Blood Dragon sequel! Man that game was just pure awesome, and I'm glad I christened my laptop with it.

True that. GTA 5 should be great too.

There is a grappling gun in FC4 and there are also mini helicopters and wingsuits that you can use. Much more vertical terrain than in FC3 so could be a very different experience strategically. Also you can apparently rock climb...

@ n=1 come on get playing!! FC 3 is awesome! I am replaying a little now.
Blood dragon sequel might come with the next game!

I think the elephant attacking gunmen is pretty stupid. A single bullet would make even the biggest animal cry and gringe like hell.

Elephants are large! If your gun is not powerful and you don't kill it. It will kill you. You would deserve it too!

1 was quite fun and more along the lines of Crysis (made by crytek) 2 was a bit buggy (ubisoft). They worked out the kinks for FC3. FC4 looks to evolve it further. The vehicle take downs look particular fun as well as driving while shooting zip line style!

Also you can drive off a cliff and have time to deploy wingsuit. Could make for some pretty cool getaways!

Indeed FarCry 3 was a good game, but after Watch Dogs, I dont know what to think of ubisoft games anymore. Especially when ubisoft is already starting to hype up Far Cry 4's graphics

Who cares about graphics. If the graphics are as good as fc3 with extra optimisation and textures I think we should be happy.

What we should care about is if it delivers on the gameplay and story front. I think people are confusing graphics quality for game quality! Crysis 3 had great graphics but was a short and boring game.

Considering how many projects Ubisoft takes on at once, and how often they launch new games, I think they do a pretty good job. With that being said, they may also release games too quickly without proper debugging / testing periods. But, they do patch them within an acceptable time frame, and that does help them run much smoother.

You also have to consider that these new games coming out are running on new platforms that companies like AMD and NVIDIA are required to update their drivers for. Even if Ubisoft perfected a game, it would still run poorly with unoptimized driver support. So, you can't put the blame solely on Ubisoft. Not 100% of the time.

Perfecting a game would take twice as long and require twice as many resources. No "major" companies do this because it's not profitable. They have to release the game after X time with acceptable faults in order to be able to predict sales and whether or not they will start working on a sequel. If so, they allocate resources to further improve development.

Besides watch dogs is not FC3. They know they have a huge following with far cry. I am pretty sure they will do a bang up job with it.

They did so with FC3 so give them benefit of the doubt. FC2 offered huge open world adventure but was a diamond in the rough. FC3 really was an improvement. So we should be positive about the next installment.

You guys do bring up some valid and of course very correct points. Far Cry is definitely one of those big budget franchises. I'm just talking about how Watch Dogs, had those disabled settings which looked and ran better (though quite blurry), and just how mediocre the entire game felt. I'll cross my fingers and see what happens. I hope we all get to play a good game on the release date

Ditto. And now I can't wait to get my hands on Far Cry 4.

Octiceps, that's a myth. You see elephants being afraid of mices on kiddie cartoons, but the fact is, they're terrified of ants.

I don't think so. Their reaction may be just "surprised". They are trying to avoid stepping on them because mices are living creatures.

On topic. I can't wait for Far Cry 4 coming in November.
