I've felt like Far Cry's since the original have missed the mark a little bit, being a bit too real and missing the fantasy aspect of the original. Games where you explore and unravel the unknown are always my favorite.
Anyone remember the old days of the original Far Cry and all the graphics mods people used to run out it to max out their SLI 6800 Ultra systems?JRE84 likes this. -

IDK, looks kinda meh. Loved Far Cry 3 and Blood Dragon. Played Far Cry 4 *eagle!*, but didn't like it, and I have a feeling this won't be any different.
Might grab it on a deep sale or so.
I remember OG FarCry. At that time everyone was talking about graphics, and everyone waited Doom 3 and Half-Life 3 2. We were fed screenshots and videos day after day with promises of outstanding graphics. But then out of nowhere Far Cry came out with similar graphics and everyone was blown away.
Not a perfect game, but certainly had its place in historyLast edited: Mar 15, 2018JRE84 likes this. -

Actually Far Cry 2 had some pretty neat ideas for its time. However the way those ideas were implemented was the problem...Last edited: Mar 15, 2018JRE84 likes this. -

As for Primal, it might not have a number, but it is a full blown game, so technical it belongs on the list.
Wish Ubi would develop Blood Dragon into a full game too... -
yeah.... i guess hard to correct my faulty logic and massive mistake lol? was just sayin

i went and bought the Gold Edition from Green Man Gaming for $76.49 USD, which is < $100 AUD for me here in Australia. It currently goes for $140 AUD on the uPlay store so a $40 saving is a good deal.

I'm very cautious about this game, since I think it's gonna be the same rinse and repeat type of gameplays, where story is reduced to a minimum (see Wildlands, AssCreed Syndicate, Mafia III, etc.).
Also, guns feel like pea-shooters in FC3/4 and by the looks of it, same will be in FC5... -

Far Cry 5’s Microtransactions Will Not Be Cosmetic Only
ByBen NewmanPosted on March 17, 2018
http://onlysp.com/far-cry-5-microtransactions-cosmetic/
"Despite rumors earlier this year that Far Cry 5‘s micro-transactions will be cosmetic-only, new details have emerged that the game will use the fees to propagate “time-saving mechanics” in the single-player campaign.
The details came alongside a new trailer, which is embedded below, but the major news was the revelation that micro-transactions will be different than previously advertised. In an interview with Gamespot, Dan Hay, executive producer at Ubisoft Montreal, suggested that micro-transactions were cosmetic only: “we’ve set the game up so…nothing is locked [away].” However, that idea was later contradicted by Hay and an unnamed Ubisoft PR representative’s statement that real-money purchases can help speed up player’s progress, which certainly sounds more than a mere cosmetic addition.
The cosmetic transactions seem rather important for Far Cry 5, too, as players are able, for the first time in the series, to customize and alter the appearance of the main character. Information has been scarce on whether these items are purchase-only, but some appear to be called “premium customization items,” which are locked behind a paywall, at least at the start of the game.
The addition of micro-transactions are unsurprising, given the fact that they are part and parcel of AAA game development and economic models in the current market.
The obvious model for Far Cry 5‘s micro-transactions, then, appears to be Assassin’s Creed: Origins, which is also published by Ubisoft. In Origins, players could purchase lootboxes to unlock new weapons, armour, crafting materials, and other customization bits for their character. Purchases were made via an in-game currency, which could be bought with real money, but Far Cry 5 has already been confirmed as having no lootboxes available, so purchases will likely be flat-priced, with no veiled gambling involved.
The new trailer is scant on gameplay, instead being one of those expensively made, yet detail-barren, live-action trailers suited for television.
The little gameplay that is shown details more about the game’s antagonist, story hints, new shots from the open world, and some vehicles and weapons that have been shown already.
Far Cry 5 releases on March 27 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One." -

Steam Refunds
http://store.steampowered.com/steam_refunds/
" Steam Refunds
You can request a refund for nearly any purchase on Steam—for any reason. Maybe your PC doesn't meet the hardware requirements; maybe you bought a game by mistake; maybe you played the title for an hour and just didn't like it.
It doesn't matter. Valve will, upon request via help.steampowered.com, issue a refund for any reason, if the request is made within fourteen days of purchase, and the title has been played for less than two hours. There are more details below, but even if you fall outside of the refund rules we’ve described, you can ask for a refund anyway and we’ll take a look.
You will be issued a full refund of your purchase within a week of approval. You will receive the refund in Steam Wallet funds or through the same payment method you used to make the purchase. If, for any reason, Steam is unable to issue a refund via your initial payment method, your Steam Wallet will be credited the full amount. (Some payment methods available through Steam in your country may not support refunding a purchase back to the original payment method. Click here for a full list.)
Where Refunds Apply
The Steam refund offer, within two weeks of purchase and with less than two hours of playtime, applies to games and software applications on the Steam store. Here is an overview of how refunds work with other types of purchases.
Refunds on Downloadable Content
(Steam store content usable within another game or software application, "DLC")
DLC purchased from the Steam store is refundable within fourteen days of purchase, and if the underlying title has been played for less than two hours since the DLC was purchased, so long as the DLC has not been consumed, modified or transferred. Please note that in some cases, Steam will be unable to give refunds for some third party DLC (for example, if the DLC irreversibly levels up a game character). These exceptions will be clearly marked as nonrefundable on the Store page prior to purchase.
Refunds on In-game Purchases
Steam will offer refund for in-game purchases within any Valve-developed games within forty-eight hours of purchase, so long as the in-game item has not been consumed, modified or transferred. Third-party developers will have the option to enable refunds for in-game items on these terms. Steam will tell you at the time of purchase if the game developer has opted to offer refunds on the in-game item you are buying. Otherwise, in-game purchases in non-Valve games are not refundable through Steam.
Refunds on Pre-Purchased Titles
When you pre-purchase a title on Steam (and have paid for the title in advance), you can request a refund at any time prior to release of that title. The standard 14-day/two-hour refund period also applies, starting on the game’s release date.
Steam Wallet Refunds
You may request a refund for Steam Wallet funds within fourteen days of purchase if they were purchased on Steam and if you have not used any of those funds.
Steam Hardware
Within thirty (30) days after delivery, you may request a refund for Steam hardware and accessories purchased via Steam for any reason. You must ship the hardware back to us within fourteen (14) days after requesting the refund, following the instructions we provide you. Please see the Steam Hardware Order Terms for detailed guidelines on the return and cancellation process for Steam hardware and accessories.
Refunds on Bundles
You can receive a full refund for any bundle purchased on the Steam Store, so long as none of the items in the bundle have been transferred, and if the combined usage time for all items in the bundle is less than two hours. If a bundle includes an in-game item or DLC that is not refundable, Steam will tell you if the whole bundle is refundable during check-out.
Purchases Made Outside of Steam
Valve cannot provide refunds for purchases made outside of Steam (for example, CD keys or Steam wallet cards purchased from third parties).
VAC Bans
If you have been banned by VAC (the Valve Anti-Cheat system) on a game, you lose the right to refund that game.
Video Content
We are unable to offer refunds for video content on Steam (e.g. movies, shorts, series, episodes, and tutorials), unless the video is in a bundle with other (non-video) refundable content.
Refunds on Gifts
Unredeemed gifts may be refunded within the standard 14-day/two-hour refund period. Redeemed gifts may be refunded under the same conditions if the gift recipient initiates the refund. Funds used to purchase the gift will be returned to the original purchaser.
EU Right of Withdrawal
For an explanation of how the EU right of withdrawal works for Steam customers, click here.
Abuse
Refunds are designed to remove the risk from purchasing titles on Steam—not as a way to get free games. If it appears to us that you are abusing refunds, we may stop offering them to you. We do not consider it abuse to request a refund on a title that was purchased just before a sale and then immediately rebuying that title for the sale price.
How to Request a Refund
You can request a refund or get other assistance with your Steam purchases at help.steampowered.com.

Not to spoil anyone but the graphics is 7 out of 10. Games like The division, Wildlands, D EX Mankind Divided and Crysis 3 have better graphics fidelity and physics. Btw for those who bought the gold edition did you receive the key for Far Cry 3 as part of the bundle? I still did't receive mine and it's not showing on my Uplay account. I want to make that as a give a way here if possible.

Welp, against my better judgment I bought Far Cry 5. I blame Justified. Just started watching it recently, damn fine shown. FC5 gave me similar vibes, given you play as a US Marshall surrounded by rednecks and all.
I’m almost finished taking down the third baddie in the game, so it means I’m almost at the end. After spending 13h in game all I can say that this one feels very mediocre.
In short, FC5 is a typical Ubisoft game. I know, don’t fix what isn’t broken, but at least try to innovate a bit. Obviously for Ubi innovate means same things with slight refinements, but bigger than the last time. Same slightly better gunplay, same drug trips, samey crazy people as antagonists and so forth.
However this time we get four nutcases instead of just one, but unfortunately all of them are boring as hell. The story has a nice hook at first, but later it just comes down to filling the “resistance meter” by completing various missions. There are a LOT of missions, but as usual, Ubisoft goes for quantity over of quality. Some are good, but the vast majority are hit and miss. To be honest, I couldn’t tell apart which are story and which are secondary, they pretty much feel all the same.
Anyway, when you fill the “resistance meter” at certain points, you get kidnapped or better to call it teleported to the area boss, and then he/she starts spewing nonsense in a cutscene I couldn’t care less about, as they are rather poorly made. A lot of monologueing is also done over the radio, which I think is just lazy. Of course, once meter fills you get to fight the boss, kill him/her, and do the same in another region. Story wise I also miss the character ark your character had in FC3. You saw Jason change throughout the story of FC3 by interecting with its main characters. In FC5 it is non existent.
World map, as one would expect from a Ubisoft game, has also became bigger. At first I was fooled by the map view, seemed like it became smaller, but it’s is not. It’s bigger than ever. It’s a pretty well made world, though for me nothing stands out really. Biggest problem with the game world is that the game doesn’t let you enjoy it. Every 10 meters or so you get attacked. Seriously you can’t enjoy exploring this world in peace. I understand that cult terrorizes the territory and hunts the protagonist, but even after I defeated the area boss and liberated all outposts in the said area, I still got attacked on a regular basis. I would expect the attacks to go down a bit. Seriously, given the amount I have killed so far, wouldn’t the cult be out of the fresh meat to go out to kill me? Moreover ridiculous spawn rates often make traveling by main roads unbearable as well as lead to yet another problem. There are NPC which give you missions. When they sense enemy presence they instantly go into “attack mode.” Guess how well it goes in this game if you are standing on the main road… You can’t start or end a conversation normally, as you get attacked every 5 seconds. And you have to listen to the monologue over and over again.
Moving to AI, what AI? It’s non existent! Both enemy and your team. I know that some cultists are brain washed, so they can act stupid, no problem, but again, given the amount of people I have killed, wouldn’t some cultist try to take the threat serious, for example not attacking straight up.
Speaking of attacking straight up, I found that stealth is not a good option in this game, well at least not very enjoyable, and just bluntly attacking head on is more fun. Just shoot the alarms and then it’s Hurk and his cousin raging hell on the area. When the AI doesn’t crap out that is…
Guns for hire characters feel a bit disappointing though. Don’t expect Bioware levels of monologues/dialogues from them. They have just a couple of phrases for each of them, which are constantly repeated, so you will get bored from them very soon.
Few other things:
- Graphically this game looks a bit dated. And I don’t seem to recall any weather going on in this game. It runs well though.
- Surprised to see Ubisoft cut down on weapons. Especially when FC3 and FC4 had a pretty lengthy arsenal and after playing Wildlands with it impressive weapon customization, FC5 feels very disappointing in this department.
- Been playing FC5 from the day one, and so far only seen a few bugs, major being the bug in Death Wish missions, and the other being GFH monologue/dialogue sound issue (they start speaking then they speech gets cut off and then they start speaking same thing again, and this loop can go on for quite a bit).
- I found gunplay to be quite enjoyable in this game, maybe the best between “FC3 generation” games.
- Microtransactions. Yes, this is a Ubisoft game, so there are microtransacations even in a single player game, which also has a SP and for obvious reasons not included in it. Also very sneaky how it offers you to buy (luckily for in-game currency) secondary ammo (rockets, bombs) when you run out of it in a vehicle.
Overall, a very by the numbers sequel. Bigger and more refined than the last time. Some fun can definitely be had, but the meal is getting very stale and I think Ubi should rethink the formula for the next game.triturbo, cj_miranda23, Arrrrbol and 1 other person like this. -
