Some random textures in Far Cry are acting very strangely. Basically they will look like a neon rainbow assortment of colors. Any idea what could cause this? I'm playing on the Asus V6Va with Ati X700. All settings on High or Very High.

Have you downloaded the latest FarCry patches? On my laptop on high or very high textures, my ground would not show up, it would all be a black void, but it would work on lower graphical settings. This was easily fixed with the latest patch updates.

Google "FarCry Patches" and download their 2 or three update packages and try that, if that doesnt work, try updating your video card drivers. that should solve your problem.

Nevermind...had to install 1.31 first, then the latest. Thanks for the help though.

1.33 is the latest last time I checked.
I'm playing with the Catalyst Mobility 6.2 drivers and the 1.33 patch installed in Far Cry with zero problems on an X700. I'm thinking that maybe the video drivers you have installed don't like the non-patched game. 1.3 added a ton of graphical fixes.

You're right...I had to install 1.3, then 1.31, then 1.33. Performance does seem a tiny bit better and the texture glitches are gone. I'm sure it'll be even better when I have 2gb of ram in this thing as opposed to 1. I love this game by the way.

Question: how do I check what current ATi drivers I have installed?
