Farcry 2 Multiplayer?

Is there much of a community for the online multiplayer? I've heard that the editor is very easy to use, so I'd think there would be a large mod-user base. Has anyone got a chance to get fun online action in FC2?

No server browser = fail.

That's all I've got to say, although the single player is great.

 

If there's no server browser, does that mean you prettymuch have to find sever IP's yourself (from the web) and connect manually?

 

I've only played Ranked matches at this point and it's just auto selected a server for me. I just assumed that it was exclusive to this option. There's really no server tab? I'll have to take a look soon.

 

No server browser, the multiplayer is just like the Xbox and PS3 versions, it auto joins a server.

 

Can you at least do a custom match with friends?

 

That's increadibly lame that there's no browser. That's one of the things I really hate about most xbox live titles. I want to be able to choose my own server.

btw.. what's wrong with the online? everytime I try to create an account to play it, the game just says the ubisoft servers are unavailable or something similar to that, and I can't play it..

 

Yea, I don't know if that would fly with me. I'm used to BF:2142 server browser...much like others. I need to see ping, and players, server size, map rotation, server name, see what servers my buddies are playing in.

 

omg.. after waiting days for this garbage service to connect to the ubi servers. it FINALLY worked.

Yet after 5 minutes of playing it online, I don't think I'll EVER go back to it. This is the WORST online service I've ever experienced.

firstly, the ubisoft server is extremely laggy, and it takes about 20 trys just to login. then once I do login, and join a match, the game will sit there for 10 minutes loading , only to say no match was found, so I do quick join so the game auto joins any open match. After It finds a match, it will take forever to load, and EVERY single person in the match will be complaining of severe lag! The latency between firing a shot, and when it hits the target is about 4 seconds, we're not talking milliseconds, these are FOUR whole seconds that the target must be standing still before the shot is registered.

I joined a different server, and tested the delay on this one since again, everyone was complaining of lag. I just walked right into thier spawn, no one could even hit me ever.. I found a guy who was standing still and typing LAG over and over, sniped him in the head, and just waited, counting the seconds before it got me the kill..

What was wrong with doing a simple server browser, people run servers on thier own dedicated networks, on ultra powerful computers, and a simple scrolling browser that has filters for map type, ping, players etc. like every other game.. Everyone at ubisoft who was involved in this online system should just go and hang themselves right now, or release a patch that just REMOVES this whole crap system, and puts in a BROWSER!

I remember playing rainbow six vegas online... it took ages to connect/load and most of the time errors popped up stopping play.

After using the cod4 multiplayer interface it is a wonder people bother with other games, sometimes it can take so long to load just to find out the ping is too high to be playable or there i a punkbuster error or something...

Is there a long load with the Far Cry 2 multiplayer?

I havent tried it yet myself (stuck behind unis proxy)

 

What's wrong with COD4's ? I just filter servers by ping, and double click one that looks good, and I usually just pop in and play completely lag free and have a great time, friends can join via Xfire. Dunno how it can be any easier really..

Farcry 2's multiplayer is completely impossible to find a good game since you can't manually select a low ping server, it just auto joins one from germany hosted by someone on a Rage pro with a pentium II 8mb ram

 

Thats what i mean nothing is wrong with cod4s its really great!

Compared to others which is so slow and temperamental...
